Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION!
WrestleMania weekend is upon us with just days to go. We already know that Iyo Sky will
defend the Women’s World Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Rhea Ripley
and Bianca Belair. Also confirmed is a clash for the Women’s Tag Team Championships as
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez of The Judgement Day will defend against Bayley and
Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria. With only days left until the biggest
weekend of the year, who will have the last laugh ahead of the Showcase of the
Immortals? Let’s get into it, and find out…
This week’s ‘Arrived Earlier Today’ videos featured Women’s Tag Team Champions LIV
MORGAN and RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ.
All the women in the WrestleMania Triple Threat – BIANCA BELAIR, IYO SKY and RHEA
RIPLEY – had hype videos ahead of the Women’s World Championship Match.
Singles Match
BAYLEY w/h LYRA VALKYRIA defeated Women’s Tag Team Champion LIV MORGAN w/h
RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ
Morgan nailed a slap to start the match, and lured Bayley around the ring with a cat-and-
mouse chase to take advantage and hit stomps when Bayley rolled in after her. Followed
by more stomps in a corner. Bayley would come back with Forearm Strikes and soon after
a Lou Thesz Press with punches. Bayley hit a Basement Spinning Back Elbow to Morgan’s
back, followed up with a Sliding D for a near fall. Not long after, Morgan backed away
when Bayley did the vault-back corner spot and hit a Shotgun Dropkick. Morgan hit the
Corner Back Elbow but after she hit the roll-through Bayley decked her with a Clothesline.
A Suplex got Bayley a two count. Soon after, Bayley hit a Lucha-style Arm Drag off the
ropes, followed by a Back Suplex. Bayley tried for a Suicide Dive but Morgan cut it off with
a Forearm shot and took advantage to try and hit the Three Amigos on the floor, but
Bayley cut off the third with a Knee Strike and slammed Morgan into the ring steps.
Bayley’s Running Knee attempt only hit the ring steps, and Morgan then pulled Bayley up
to hit a Suplex off the steps onto the ringside floor! It only got a two count back inside the
ring.
Bayley would be choked on the ropes, and when Morgan backed away it distracted the ref
Rodriguez sneaked in a cheap shot punch before Morgan landed a Dropkick to the back to
get a near fall. Soon after a Codebreaker for Morgan another two count. Bayley would
escape a resthold Chinlock with an Arm Drag but soon after Morgan hit a wild Facebuster
off the ropes for a near fall. The Superstars would exchange strikes and kicks, and Bayley
got the better of it with a Knee Strike. She charged for Sunset Flip Bomb but Morgan
dodged and sent Bayley sliding into the middle turnbuckle. That set up the Glimmering
Warlock by Morgan for another near fall.
Bayley countered a leap from the corner by Morgan, and tried for a Boston Crab but
Morgan countered into a pinhold for a two count, then a Roll-up for barely one. Bayley hit a
Running Knee, then the Sunset Flip Bomb into the corner for a near fall. Morgan hit a
Codebreaker on the apron, then a Missile Dropkick off the apron to Bayley but again only
got a two count in the ring. Bayley would avoid an ObLIVion attempt and sent Morgan
through the ropes, only for Morgan to pull back from a Stunner attempt and hit a High
Knee Strike over the ropes to Bayley. Morgan would try for the Double Springboard usually
for a Dropkick but Bayley hit a counter Stunner as Morgan jumped.
The Bayley-to-Belly landed but Rodriguez (barely in time or even in terms of how far
Morgan was away from them) put Morgan’s foot on the ropes. Valkyria went after
Rodriguez but got decked with a Big Boot, but in turn Rodriguez paid for getting on the
apron as Bayley pulled her through the ropes for the Stunner. Morgan took advantage of
the distraction and hit a Backstabber, but when she went for ObLIVion Valkyria held Bayley
onto the ropes to block it and the ref never saw it because he was getting Rodriguez out of
the ring. Bayley landed a Jackknife Pin and stole the win over Morgan.
IVY NILE accompanied American Made as Julius Creed faced Rey Mysterio, but everyone
was tossed from ringside after interference by both factions. Nile would also accompany
the group when Gable complained about his WrestleMania opportunity being ‘taken away’
by El Grande Americano.
JACKIE REDMOND and CATHY KELLEY handled interview duties.
SCARLETT accompanied Karrion Kross as he lost to AJ Styles. At one point Scarlett
choked AJ on the ropes when Kross distracted the ref.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
It was wildly disappointing that for the last Raw ahead of ‘Mania the women of the Triple
Threat were reduced to just promo videos. The build for this match has been a complete
mess that’s done no one any favours, to the point that the crowds have even turned on
Belair who has unintentionally become the Heel in this match. It’s just been so bad. We
can only hope the women turn things around and deliver where it matters in the ring.
Elsewhere, Bayley gets a win in a fine match that was protected with the slight
interference. I can likely see Morgan and Rodriguez retaining but it could still go either way
in what should hopefully be a fun match.
That’s your lot this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the always highly
anticipated Raw-After-Mania edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
