Hey and welcome back to the Revelleution and a brand new WWE 2K24 Video. Yesterday WWE and 2K unveiled a whole bunch of information for their upcoming WWE 2K24 title with the official announcement of the 40 years of WrestleMania showcase titled Showcase of the Immortals. With little information to go off as to what matches will be included in the Mania celebrations I thought we would have a little fun and try and work out what matches might make the cut.
In total over the 40 years of WrestleMania there have been 52 matches featuring female superstars spanning right back to WrestleMania 1 featuring the Women’s Championship. So what were those matches? buckle up it’s a long one!
Phew Finally got there, there are so many worthy and rightful contenders to include in the WrestleMania showcase when it comes to the women, but sadly this is where we have to put on our business hat and eliminate matches that saddly have next to no chance of being included due to one reason or another.
Thanks to yesterday’s trailer it already looks like last year’s Main title matches have made the cut with the reveal of Asuka Vs Bianca and Charlotte Vs Rhea from WrestleMania 39. From the list we already know that there was also a women’s tag team championship match featuring Ronda Rousey, which if Ronda is still in the game could be included too, as well as a mixed tag team match with Ronda and Kurt taking on HHH and Stephanie from WrestleMania 34.
I can’t quite pin down whether or not I think Ronda will be a part of the showcase after departing WWE not that long ago so to be safe I’ll remove Ronda from my pickings. Nia Jax is another name I’m not quite sure on due to her only recently returning to TV in the last few months. Nia however had been secretly signed for over a year so maybe there is more hope, that’s if she isn’t DLC of course.
We also know that from the WrestleMania Bonus pack that we likely won’t be getting the WrestleMania 36 Match between Charlotte and Rhea. It was also confirmed that Charlotte’s WrestleMania 33 attire is in the game so we can also scrap that for multiple reasons.
There are so many women I would love to see join the WWE 2K series like Jazz, Sable, Christy Hemme and Ashley just to name a few, but after recent years and legal issues I unfortunately think this takes them out of the game and any matches they were a part of.
Due to some superstars leaving WWE in recent months and years it also means talent like Sasha Banks, Paige, Mickie James, Maria, Lana and Naomi also probably wont be included and any matches they were a part of. Whilst Sasha and Naomi aren’t currently signed with a company as of this video, they still weren’t back with WWE during the time of WWE 2K24’s production. Whilst Kairi has returned to WWE in recent months I’d also say I highly doubt she will make the cut at least in the base game either, Kairi could possibly be DLC but the weeks and months ahead will see.
I would personally love to see 2K do something different and bring in Wendi Richter and Leilani Kai for WrestleMania 1 because if you’re going to have a WrestleMania showcase you need to represent the women who started it all. When it comes to the male superstars 2K perfectly captures multiple generations with the female legends only really ever going as far back as Chyna, Lita and Trish.
In the past 2K have had legends such as Ivory, Jacqueline and Alundra Blayze on their rosters so a part of me wouldn’t be surprised to see one or two of them return to the series with Ivory being the most likely to take part in the Wrestlemania 17 match against Chyna. If legends such as Trish, Lita, Chyna and Molly Holly are once again included in WWE 2K24 there are a handful of matches that either women could be included with, most likely the WrestleMania 39 tag team match in which Trish and Lita tagged with Becky Lynch to take on damage CTRL.
This year 2K have announced that certain match types are set to return to the WWE 2K series with Special Guest Referee, Casket matches and more. Whilst I would love to see a sort of revival of the fulfil your fantasy ring for the Candice Michelle and Torrie Wilson playboy match at WrestleMania 22, I think we all know the chances of that are very slim.
However there is one match I would love to see in the form of Victoria Vs Molly Holly at WrestleMania 20 in a Title Vs Hair match. Molly Holly had a huge presence in last years game so I would love nothing more than to see Molly get a huge moment in WWE 2K24 especially if it means the inclusion of one of the greatest female superstars of all time Victoria. 2K also now implements a slingshot technology feature into their Showcase modes so the feature would be a great way to showcase Molly’s head being shaved in the iconic WrestleMania moment.
I could easily sit here all day and argue why such and such wrestler is worthy of being included in the showcase but lets get down to the nitty gritty and finalise a match list that logically makes the most sense. When you remove WWE alumni who aren’t under a legends deal or currently in the 2K Series, not in the WWE Hall of Fame or on good terms with WWE we could see the following matches:
Now this doesn’t mean I think that all of these matches will be a part of the showcase, it’s just the matches that are likely available to 2K to recreate. As I said earlier if Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey are in this year’s game that opens up a handful of matches including the Triple Threat match between Ronda, Charlotte and Becky as well as Nia Jax Vs Alexa Bliss. I do think there is a likelihood that we might get someone like Ivory return to the series just to cover a different era in women’s wrestling because it would be disappointing to only cover a small era in women’s wrestling especially with it being so recent.
So before I ramble anymore I want to know what matches you think will be included in the WrestleMania showcase for the women as well as which female legend you would like to see in the WWE 2K Series. Until next time i’ve been the Revelleution and I’m going to binge some women’s Wrestlemania moments.
