Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! As we head towards the Bash in Berlin event, we will see a clash between current and former Judgement Day members as Rhea Ripley teams with Damien Priest to battle Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio. Elsewhere, after The Unholy Union caused a contendership match to be thrown out, the tag champs must now defend the gold in a Triple Threat Match against both Damage CTRL and Pure Fusion Collective. Who will emerge holding the tag gold? And what other twists will we see between Ripley and Morgan? Let’s get into it, and find out…
The competitors in the Triple Threat match along with Rhea Ripley and Damien Priest all got ‘arriving earlier today’ vids.
JACKIE REDMOND and CATHY KELLEY handled interview duties.
Backstage Chad Gable alongside The Creed Brothers heaped praise on IVY NILE as she lifted weights, bragging about his new vision and family in American Made. Nile was all in with the mockery to Maxxine Dupri, stating that she was the real deal and that Dupri had been holding her back. Gable encouraged Nile to break Dupri tonight and said that after they dealt with Alpha Academy they’d finish their issues with the Wyatt Sicks.
Singles Match
IVY NILE Vs MAXXINE DUPRI never officially started.
The respective groups of the women only accompanied them to the stage before they went to the back. Before the bell rung, Dupri (despite being the face) got a cheap shot of a Dropkick to the back when Nile spent too long taunting. Sent to the outside, Nile got tossed into the barricade a couple of times and then of all things Dupri hit a Fisherwoman’s Suplex on the floor! Nile was tossed over the announce table and then finally into the ring, but inside Nile nailed a Big Boot that dropped Dupri.
Nile clubbed away with grounded punches, then shots and stomps in a corner but the bell had never officially rung. Then the Wyatt Sicks made their appearance as NIKKI CROSS (as Abby the Witch) stared off against Nile. The rest of American Made came out to try and intimidate but that only led to the others in Wyatt Sicks coming out. So Cross took out Nile with a Crossbody charge to tackle her out before the men brawled leading to Uncle Howdy hitting Sister Abigail on Gable.
RHEA RIPLEY and Damien Priest had a hype video and promo about The Judgement Day. Ripley vowed there would be nowhere to run and hide for Morgan and Mysterio, and stated that it was her and Priest who had kept Mysterio safe this entire time. She claimed that Morgan had only become a discount Rhea Ripley.
LIV MORGAN and Dominik Mysterio would respond to their rivals as Morgan said the Terror Twins were out of their minds, and claimed that she and Mysterio were the most dominant couple in the WWE.
SCARLETT accompanied The Final Testament as they lost to The New Day and Odessey Jones.
Backstage Rhea Ripley lamented that the challenge made by Mysterio to Priest was a trap, and Priest agreed but he was still ready to go for the match.
Their fears were confirmed when The Judgement Day jumped Priest during his entrance but Priest fought off the numbers and it led to Rhea Ripley hitting a Headbutt to Mysterio before Priest decked him. The numbers became too much when Liv Morgan nailed Ripley in the back with a steel chair and the men beat down Priest. Priest was held down to watch as Morgan beat down Ripley and targeted the previously injured shoulder with shots to the ring post. Morgan would hit ObLIVion to Ripley in the ring while the men took out Priest.
After the beatdown, backstage The Judgement Day would gloat as Morgan vowed to make her Ripley her “Bitch” at Bash at Berlin.
Triple Threat Match – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Unholy Union (ALBA FYRE & ISLA DAWN) defeated Damage CTRL (IYO SKY & KAIRI SANE) and Pure Fusion Collective (SHAYNA BASZLER & ZOEY STARK) w/h SONYA DEVILLE to retain the titles.
They stated that despite being a Triple Threat, only two women were legal at any time so one team wouldn’t be legally in the match at all. The match started off with a brawl before the bell that saw the Sky Pirates hit Unholy Union with Dropkicks to send them out. When Baszler and Sane were left in the ring the bell was called for to make them legal. Sane escaped an arm hold and hit a back vault from the ropes to snap off a Headscissors. Damage CTRL botched a toss up into a dive as Sky’s toss only sent Sane stomach-first into the ropes but somehow Sane saved it to tumble down anyway for a Senton of sorts to take out PFC. While Sky hit a Suicide Dive to take out Unholy Union.
After a commercial break, Stark was legal against Sane to choke Sane on the ropes. Deville hit a cheap shot to Sane but despite the match being No DQ Stark distracted the ref for it anyway. Sane countered a Suplex with a DDT, but Stark tagged in Baszler to try and block a tag out by Sane. Only to take an Enzigiri for her troubles that sent Baszler into the Unholy Union’s corner so Fyre could tag herself in while Sane tagged in Sky.
Sky hit Shoteis to both of Unholy Union and then Baszler, but Stark blocked a shot for her only to have her Superkick be caught and then swung up to nail Baszler to leave Stark open for a Shotei. Sky fought off the numbers to hit a Springboard Drokpick to both Stark and Dawn, before she hit the Bullet Train Attack to Baszler and Fyre in one corner and to Stark and Dawn in the opposite one. Fyre escaped from the Double Underhook Backbreaker attempt but she made the mistake of going up top at Damage CTRL’s corner. Held by the leg by Sane before she tagged in and the Sky Pirates hit a Double Team Superplex to Fyre. Dawn broke up the pin attempt.
Things broke down as Sky took out Dawn just to get a head kick from Baszler, and she got a Headbutt from Fyre. Deville got onto the apron but took a Superkick from Fyre before Sane hit a Spear on Fyre. Sane would take out Deville when she got up again and in the distraction Stark tagged herself in off of Fyre to take her out with a Superkick and then tag Baszler in. Stark hit a rolling DVD to Sky to set up a Baszler PK. Sane hit a Top Rope Crossbody to wipe out both of PFC. Sane and Baszler would trade a Strong Style Rest Hold (strikes) before Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch just to be backed into the Unholy Union’s corner.
Sane hit a Spinning Backfist and went up top, and it allowed Dawn to tag in before Sane went for the InSane Elbow, only for Baszler to counter with knees up and then the Clutch again. Dawn tagged in Fyre and then hit a Backstabber to Baszler while she still locked in the Clutch, and held both women so Fyre could hit the Swanton Bomb! That allowed Fyre to pin Baszler and retain the Tag Team Championships.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A fantastic Triple Threat Match that gave not just all the women a time to shine, but a much needed legit win for The Unholy Union who have been second fiddle in the mass faction storyline on Raw. It was just a really fun match to watch and no one was buried or hurt by the finish either. Whether the Union will still get the same strong treatment over on Smackdown with the story against ‘The Big Three’ over there still ongoing is a different issue. Elsewhere the beatdown by The Judgement Day to Priest and Ripley was effective to put over the numbers game. While the brief face off between Ivy Nile and Nikki Cross/Abby and the quick brawl was only to be expected. Will the women just be sideshows for the men’s feud or will we finally see if Cross can compete with the gimmick and mask on?
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
