RAW RECAP 19/10/26: Green/Sky Vs Judgment Day, Vice Vs Valkyria

Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION!

With the Crown Jewel event still set to happen in November, the stage is being set for the annual tradition of the ‘bragging rights’ Crown Jewel Championship Match between the Women’s World Champion of Raw, Liv Morgan, and SmackDown’s WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green. What will be next for these women ahead of the clash between Champions? And what’s next for Iyo Sky after her apparent declaration of going after the Women’s IC title after last week? Let’s get into it, and find out…

MAXXINE DUPRI would play the distraction during Bron Breakker’s match against Penta, coming out towards the end of the match along with Austin Theory. However her second round of distracting backfired, when Je’Von Evans cut off Theory’s attempt to get involved and that led to Breakker losing.

JACKIE REDMOND handled interview duties.

Tag Team Match
WWE Women’s Champion CHELSEA GREEN & IYO SKY defeated The Judgment Day (Women’s IC Champion RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ & ROXANNE PEREZ) w/h LIV MORGAN

Sky and Perez started things off, with Perez getting the better of the opening tie-up, turning it into a Wristlock that she kept control off by following Sky’s roll through attempt to escape. After a second roll spot, Sky would use the ropes to flip backwards and then take control with a couple of wringers to the Wristlock. It would lead to Perez being whipped and then the cartwheel into a slap by Perez. Sky would answer with her misdirection, flips, sliding leg trip and then a Basement Dropkick combo. Green got a tag, leading to the faces hitting a Double Team Shoulder Knockdown and the Double Team Elbow Drop to give Green just a count of one.

A Dropkick by Green would send Perez into the ropes, allowing Rodriguez to tag herself in but Green managed to duck her Clothesline attempt when she came in and hit a slap. Green would counter a slam attempt, landing on her feet off a Tilt-a-Whirl but got decked by the Rewind Clothesline. Green got choked on the ropes and took a cheap shot slap from Morgan when Rodriguez distracted the ref, before Rodriguez herself slid out and struck Green. Getting a two count in the ring before attempting a Suplex but Green escaped and quickly tagged out.

Sky hit a couple of Shotei strikes then a Basement Dropkick to the knee to set up a Running Crossbody. Moments later Sky hit a Missile Dropkick, kipped up AND DID THE THING! Rodriguez slid out of the ring to avoid the Bullet Train Attack and moments later, Rodriguez hauled Sky off the apron to block a Springboard attack. Grabbing a Gutwrench grip to swing Sky into the barricade then a wild toss across the ringside floor as the show went to a ‘commercial break’.

Rodriguez used a Lawn Dart, meant to send Sky into the ring post but Sky’s head missed the post so she more just hit the apron than anything else. Rodriguez hauled Sky from the corner for a short Powerbomb spot for a near fall. Perez got a tag, roughed up Sky with a hairpull Slam face-first and got a two count off a cocky foot on the chest pin. After a stomp and another two count, Sky was choked on the ropes and Perez distracted the ref, allowing Rodriguez to hit a cheap shot boot to give Perez a near fall. Perez went to break Sky’s back and make her humble with a Camel Clutch and Sky tried to power up but Perez forced her back down to reapply the hold.

Back to ‘live action’ and Sky fought free, tossing Perez overhead but Perez kept wrist control to prevent a tag, even while taking Forearm Strikes. Perez would hit an Overhead Kick that set up the European Uppercut to the back on the ropes, but the Double Springboard Lionsault that followed met knees barely up in time as a counter. Rodriguez tagged in but took a Chinbuster and Sky had to fight the numbers, tossing Perez out before avoiding a Rodriguez Big Boot, using a Roll-Up to bring Rodriguez down in position for a Buzzsaw Kick. Perez prevented the tag by yanking Green’s leg to drive her into the apron, and Rodriguez pounced with a Big Boot for a near fall.

Sky escaped a Tijana Bomb, trying for a Sunset Flip but would counter Rodriguez going for a Choke Bomb, turning it into the Wheelbarrow-Double Stomp spot. Tags on both sides made Green and Perez legal, as Green went House on Fire with her Japanese Arm Drags then a Ripcord Enzigiri. Green tossed Rodriguez out and would hit a Meteora to Perez’s back on the ropes, followed by the slide into a face plant spot for a near fall. Perez fought out of I’m Prettier and would hit a form of Shining Wizard. Rodriguez was tagged, and Green escaped a Tijana Bomb attempt but when she went up top, Liv Morgan yanked her down to leave her sat up top as Perez distracted the ref. Green struggled free and would slap Rodriguez down, before Sky made herself legal with a tag and Green hit a Top Rope Crossbody to take out Morgan and Perez on the outside.

Rodriguez dragged Sky in, tried for a Suplex but Sky countered with a Hurricanrana pin to get the three count over the Women’s IC Champion. The faces raised their arms on the outside but the show immediately moved on.

JAIDA PARKER was part of the latest 946 video, delivering the ‘Ain’t Nobody Safe’ line.

In an ‘earlier today’ video, backstage, BAYLEY continued to torment LYRA VALKYRIA by stalking her backstage. Valkyria sensed it, but taking a wild swing that she thought would hit her rival ended up hitting LOLA VICE who was there instead and after venting in Spanish, Vice told her to meet her in the ring later.

Singles Match
LOLA VICE defeated LYRA VALKYRIA

Valkyria went overboard during her entrance, repeatedly looking back in case Bayley was there following her. They even showed footage from the Main Event show where Bayley’s music distracted, allowing Sol Ruca to beat Valkyria.Valkyria rolled to avoid Vice before taking a kick, then soon after a Shoulder Knockdown. The two countered Hip Toss attempts but Vice used a counter to try and apply an Arm Bar, leading to the pin counter for two from Valkyria. Valkyria countered a kick and locked in the Pendulum submission. Keeping control after with Elbow shots but Vice would get up, holding Valkyria’s arm for short-range Open Hand Chops, then a snap Spinebuster takedown leading to mount punches.

Valkyria grabbed the ropes to avoid another slam attempt, and would trip up Vice charging in with a Legsweep before choking Vice on the ropes. Vice hit a Knee Strike at the ropes, but Valkyria responded with some of her own and would moments later avoid a Shoulder Thrust through the ropes, allowing her to deliver a Legdrop across the back of Vice’s head. Hauling Vice to dangle her from the apron to deliver a Backbreaker as the show went to a ‘commercial break’.

Back inside, Valkyria hit a Northern Lights Suplex for a two count. Valkyria hit a Clothesline then locked on a resthold of a Top Wristlock variation. Vice fought out but took a Legsweep then a Legdrop across the back of her head for a near fall. Vice countered a slam into a Samson Clutch for a two count, and soon after took an Enzigiri from Valkyria to give her a near fall.

Back to ‘live action’ and Vice came back with kicks to the stomach then her Tornado Kicks followed by the rapid-fire Kicks. Theatrics then the Running Hip Attack, some ‘extra bass’ then another Hip Attack for a near fall. Again Vice would go for an Arm Bar, just for the same pin counter for a two count. Vice would duck an Enzigiri by Valkyria but soon after took a Fisherwoman’s Suplex for a near fall. A flying nothing by Valkyria ate a Bang Kick to the stomach mid-flight to give Vice a two count. The women exhanged pin holds after Valkyria countered a pick up with a Sunset Flip, and Valkyria hit a Roundhouse Kick. Attempting Nightwing but Vice countered with a Rear Naked Choke, getting backed into a corner and sending Vice down to take the Dropkick through the ropes.

Vice was sent back in and as the referee checked on her, Bayley would appear from under the ring, grabbing Valkyria’s leg to stop her from getting right back in. Valkyria yelled for the official to check for Bayley, but Bayley emerged from the other side of the ring, pulling Valkyria’s hair from the other side of the ring corner. That would set things up for Vice hitting a Seated Senton off the apron, sending Valkyria in and ducking a Roundhouse kick to nail the M.I.A. Spinning Backfist to get the victory.

After the match, Valkyria went after Bayley, dragging her over the Timekeeper’s barricade to the floor but charged in to just get dumped over that barrier. Valkyria fled through the crowd so Bayley grabbed a mic, ranting from the ring. Saying the two would finish this once and for all in a No DQ Match next week. Valkyria didn’t seem to like that, shaking her head at the entranceway while Bayley held the ring.

Backstage, STEPHANIE VAQUER was with Adam Pearce and had her foot in a cast as a ‘trainer’ said she needed to stay out of action for at least another week. BECKY LYNCH showed up to mock, continuing to act like a heel as she made fun of Pearce for failing to make matches, saying she should get first crack at Liv Morgan. Vaquer threatened to still kick her ass even on one leg, but Pearce cut in, saying no-one was fighting anyone until Vaquer was cleared. He claimed he would ‘consider’ making a Contendership match between the two in the future. Vaquer would be left fuming after Lynch taunted and walked away.

Jaida Parker would accompany The 946 as they brawled with The Usos and Solo Sikoa for the main event segment.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Two solid matches this week. This was the best in-ring performance so far from Lola Vice but it’s perhaps telling that she’s not getting the expected IC title run that many thought after she scored the win over Rodriguez in her debut. That title shot going to Sky should be make for a good match, and while you would assume that Rodriguez would retain in that event, it’s not a guarantee. The tag match worked to still build towards Crown Jewel so I’ve got no complaints about that. The WWE announcing a No DQ Match for the bout between Bayley and Valkyria seems to be a mocking of the rumours that some news sites spread about a possible stipulation for a feud payoff. It’s still a gimmick match, sure, but it doesn’t really scream a blood feud ender. With the speculation about Bayley’s future in WWE, we’ll see if this really does finish the storyline or if it’s a bait-and-switch for something else.

That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
