Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION!
Money in the Bank has come and gone, and it saw Tiffany Stratton become the two-time Miss MITB after she won the Women’s Ladder Match in a spectacular match. Elsewhere, Liv Morgan recaptured the Women’s World Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer, pinning Vaquer clean after an ObLIVion. After that major PLE, what’s next for the women of the Red Brand? Let’s get into it, and find out…
This week’s ‘Arrived Earlier Today’ videos included The Judgment Day with new Women’s World Champion LIV MORGAN, IC Champ RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ and a less-than-thrilled ROXANNE PEREZ.
JAIDA PARKER was in a promo video with The 946.
LYRA VALKYRIA had a promo from the entrance stage. Mocking the fans for not ‘reading the room’ about her current situation, and complained about not being safe in the workplace after being threatened. BAYLEY appeared in the background, slowly coming out as Valkyria ranted. Bayley spooked Valkyria when she spoke and said the people wanted to see consequences for actions, and threatened that her rival wouldn’t see it coming when she decided when it ended. Bayley finished with a rather heel-era unhinged laugh before she left, and Valkyria ranted a little more about everything being unfair for her before she stormed off.
Liv Morgan led out The Judgment Day to the ring for a promo. Morgan did her ‘Greatest of all Time’ line right away but even Rodriguez and McDonagh seemed to mock her about it. Morgan claimed she had redeemed herself of injustice by getting the title back. Morgan said she could now turn her attention to becoming the two-time Crown Jewel Champion winner. That brought out the WWE Women’s Champion from SmackDown CHELSEA GREEN who came out alone. Confronting Morgan in the ring, claiming she respected Morgan and saying may the best woman win. Morgan, of course, mocked that and said they weren’t equal and mocked Green for not being either a real or fighting Champion. Morgan said the only threat was from Miss MITB Stratton and called Green a placeholder Champion. Green said she’d been underestimated for years, and she’d make Morgan stare up at the lights and would make Morgan respect her. She called Morgan Mysterio’s placeholder Girlfriend.
Roxanne Perez stepped up to Green and mouthed off, a brief shouting match between the duo before a referee slid in to separate the two and with Perez being the only one in ring gear, the ref said a match was happening now as the show went to a commercial break.
Non-Title Singles Match
ROXANNE PEREZ w/h LIV MORGAN & RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ defeated WWE Women’s Champion CHELSEA GREEN
After a lot of stalling to work the time of the break, Mysterio and McDonagh left ringside by the time the bell finally rang with only Morgan and Rodriguez staying in Perez’s corner. Perez rolled to avoid the initial lock-up attempt, bailing to the floor. The proper lock-up brought both women to the mat, then rolling out to the floor to still be locked up ringside until they backed each other to the apron as the show returned to ‘live action’.
The lock-up finally broke as the women got back inside at the count of nine. Green blocked strike attempts and controlled with a Wristlock until Perez grabbed the hair and applied a Wristlock of her own. Keeping control even after Green rolled but Green would counter and got a near fall from a La Magistral. Perez grabbed the hair again before applying a Headlock, but got pushed off and knocked down with a Shoulder Check. Green locked on a Headlock into a Takeover, and Perez would yet again use the hair to lead to an escape, soon after doing her cartwheel evasion into a slap.
When Perez avoided a slap and went to pose on the ropes, Green slid out and tripped Perez, setting up to swing Perez around to hang off the apron to take a slap. In the ring, Green hit another slap and set Perez on the ropes to take a Meteora to the back. Next hitting a Sliding ‘move’ that was more a pause and just Green shoving Perez down to get a count of one. Green missed a corner charge, allowing Perez to hit a Running European Uppercut before she clubbed away at Green’s back. Green would drive Perez’s head into the middle turnbuckle pad five times and then hit a Missile Dropkick off the top as the show went to another commercial break.
Green went for a dive and was cut off with a slap at the ropes. Perez hit a Suicide Dive to Green then sent her into the crowd barricade, breaking the count to drive Green into it again before they worked the count and Green got back in at seven. Green got choked on the ropes and took a Dropkick to the head while hung through the ropes, giving Perez a near fall. Perez applied a rest hold of a Camel Clutch, trying to break her back and make her humble, but Green powered up with Perez on her back as the show returned to ‘live action’.
Green blocked the attempt at Perez’s Russian Legsweep, and would hit a couple of wild looking Japanese Arm Drags, leading to a Ripcord Enzigiri before Green hit a Rough Ryder for a near fall (the ref’s audible for Perez to kick out being clearly heard by the cameras). Green went for the same sliding ‘move’ from earlier but this time Perez countered with a Crucifix Pin for a two count, before trying for a Crossface but Green countered that with a pinhold for a near fall. Perez hit a La Mistica then a Shining Wizard to get a close two count. Perez hit a Bang Kick but ran into an I’m Prettier attempt, blocking it before Green hit a Release German Suplex instead.
Morgan interfered, tripping the leg of Green without the ref seeing it and when Green went after her, Perez took advantage with a Running European Uppercut to the back. Setting up for the Double-bounce Lionsault but Green got the knees up. Green tried again for I’m Prettier but when Rodriguez got on the apron to distract, Green instead sent Perez in for a Spear to take out Rodriguez and send Perez down to the floor too. Green hit a Suicide Dive onto Perez and Rodriguez and sent Perez back in before avoiding a wild charge from Morgan, tossing her over the announce table.
Immediately inside, Perez caught Green with a Bank Kick, then jumped off the middle ropes at a corner to hit PopRox to steal the upset win off all the distractions. After the win, Morgan would mouth off at Green with a match graphic claiming that Crown Jewel (for the time being) was happening on November 7th with the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship match between Green and Morgan for the show. Green would slap Morgan and got stomped by Perez and Rodriguez, who then held Morgan at the ropes so Morgan could hit ObLIVion. Morgan stood over Green with a foot on her to close the segment.
Backstage, IYO SKY spoke with General Manager Adam Pearce, saying she was looking for her next challenge. Lyra Valkyria stormed up, complaining about Bayley and right on time, Bayley was in the distance, stalking her rival, and Pearce said he wasn’t going to do anything about someone ‘just standing there’ and so Valkyria stormed off in a rage. Next, Roxanne Perez with Raquel Rodriguez interrupted as Perez demanded a title match but Pearce dismissively said she’s need to take it up with SmackDown GM Nick Aldis. Rodriguez mocked Sky for no longer being relevant and that got Sky mad, who claimed that she had ‘found her next challenge’ before leaving the scene as the heels fumed a bit.
JACKIE REDMOND handled interview duties.
NXT Superstar and current Evolve Women’s Champion NIKKITA LYONS was featured in the promo for the ‘Agent of Shadows’ WWE ‘ReelShort’ movie.
STEPHANIE VAQUER hobbled out of the Trainer’s room on crutches, with an apparent ankle injury, getting questioned by Byron Saxton as she lamented about choosing the match she lost the title in. She claimed she got stronger with every loss. BECKY LYNCH mocked Vaquer over costing ‘them both’ the title after she made sure Vaquer won the gold, but Vaquer fired back that Lynch would have lost last week if not for her. Vaquer vowed that she didn’t need a title to kick Lynch’s ass, and Lynch said she’d be ready for it when it happened. Walking away to send the segment.
Jaida Parker would back up her boys The 946 for the Main Event match against The Usos and Solo Sikoa. Late in the match, Parker would pull the referee out of the ring to stop a count being made on Royce Keys by Sikoa, even tossing the official over the barricade to wipe him out. Later, after the men had just done a similar spot, Parker would hit a Crossbody off from the top of the stands to wipe out The Usos! The match wouldn’t end with any official winner but The 946, with new member Carmelo Hayes, stood tall over the Usos and Sikoa to end the show.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A solid match between Green and Perez. There’d been a lot of speculation about if Crown Jewel will take place, at least in its advertised location, considering global events. That remains to be seen but Green versus Morgan should still be a fun match when, and wherever, it happens. Vaquer and Lynch continuing to fued makes sense, blaming each other for their loss and staying busy. However, I’m surprised that they’re going with Iyo Sky and Raquel Rodriguez as the next IC title feud if that’s the dirction from this week’s backstage segment. Rodriguez lost clean to Lola Vice so unless they’ve already lost faith in Vice to deliver, it’s odd to just ignore that match and go with Sky. Then again, with Survivor Series and the expected Women’s WarGames Match not that far away, the numbers of The Judgment Day will need a number of opponents to face off against so laying groundwork for Sky being one of them wouldn’t hurt.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
