Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION!
Crown Jewel is in the history books and it saw Raw’s World Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer become the Women’s Crown Jewel Champion with a victory over Tiffany Stratton. Alongside a home country victory for Rhea Ripley as she teamed with Iyo Sky to defeat the Kabuki Warriors. Now that Crown Jewel is out of the way, what’s next for the women of Raw? Let’s get into it, and find out…
This week’s ‘Arrived Earlier Today’ videos included RHEA RIPLEY.
JACKIE REDMOND and CATHY KELLEY handled interview duties.
Backstage, a furious ASUKA yelled at KAIRI SANE for losing at Crown Jewel. She shut down Sane’s idea to talk with Iyo Sky, and said Sane needed to fix the ‘dishonour’ that she’d caused her. Putting Sane into a match with Rhea Ripley to remind everyone that she’s in charge. When Sane showed off a big bruise on her head, Asuka just slapped her hard and further insulted her.
Singles Match
RHEA RIPLEY w/h IYO SKY defeated KAIRI SANE w/h ASUKA
Sane ducked a lock-up and clubbed Rhea in the back to start, then avoided another and hit a slap. Sane couldn’t keep avoiding and soon took a Clothesline, but managed to escape off the shoulders and hit some open-handed chops. Rhea blocked a Crossbody and turned it into a Delayed Suplex. Sane would use a gut kick to set up clubbing blows then an Axe Kick and soon after, hit her vault-back Headscissors. That set up the Sliding D off the ropes but when she went for a Flying Forearm off the apron, Ripley cut her off with a kick. Back inside, Ripley hit a Basement Dropkick then a Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall.
Asuka got on the apron to distract and lured Ripley out, which allowed Sane to hit a Baseball Slide to Ripley. Iyo would go at it with Asuka, but got taken out by a Sane Flying Forearm from the apron that allowed Asuka to hit a Buzzsaw Kick to Sky. After a commercial break, Ripley fought out of a Japanese Stranglehold and would right after counter a Sane vault-back attempt with a kick to the gut. Ripley would hit Short-Arm Clotheslines, a Ripcord Bang Kick then Kingdom Falls. A Running Thrust Kick got Ripley a near fall. Ripley went for Razor’s Edge but Sane countered with a Sunset Flip for a near fall. Ripley blocked a Cutlass, hit a Headbutt, then tried for Riptide but Sane escaped.
The action went to the apron and Sane ducked back into the ring to avoid a charge that sent Ripley into the ring post. Sane would hit an InSane Elbow to Ripley on the floor and back in the ring, Sane hit a Stundog Millionaire off a Wheelbarrow for a near fall. Sane went up top for a flying nothing, before an attempt at an Interceptor was blocked as Ripley hit Razor’s Edge then a Sliding Kick for a two count. After an exchange of blows up top, Sane would set up Ripley caught up on the ropes to hit a Double Stomp for a near fall. Sane hit a couple of Cutlass shots then a Sliding D to a corner. Sane tried for Flying Headscissors off the top rope but Ripley blocked, and eventually slammed Sane face-first down.
Asuka tried to distract but Sky pulled her down and hit a Buzzsaw Kick. Sane tried to steal the win with a Roll-up but only got two. Ripley hit a Headbutt, then Riptide and got the win.
After the match, Asuka attacked Sky and drove her into the ring post. Ripley went after Asuka and cleared the announce table. She tried to hit Riptide to Asuka through the table but Sane used a Kendo Stick to pummel Ripley from behind. Asuka then laid out Ripley with a DDT into the table before the Warriors posed above Ripley to end the segment. After a commerical, a replay would be shown of Sky and Ripley helping each other to the back.
Tag Team Match
BAYLEY & LYRA VALKYRIA defeated The Judgement Day (RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ & ROXANNE PEREZ)
Before the match, backstage Valkyria questioned if Bayley was ‘all good’ and she didn’t mean about any jet lag. She didn’t know if she couldn’t trust Bayley, and she claimed this would be a one-time thing. Bayley laughed it off and that didn’t reassure Valkyria.
Rodriguez and Valkyria started off while the fans showered Bayley with the ‘If You’ll Be My Girl’ chants. A quick kick by Rodriguez allowed her to send Valkyria head-first into the heel corner to tag in Perez who choked Valkyria with a boot. Valkyria avoided a charge and got a Roll-up, leading to an exchange of pin holds before Perez applied a Headlock. Valkyria used a Legsweep to set up a Basement Dropkick for a near fall. Perez used a hairpull to bring Valkyria back as Rodriguez got a tag and kicked Valkyria in the gut. Valkyria would flip out of a Back Suplex attempt and Bayley tagged herself in, before the faces peppered Rodriguez with strikes, finished by a Valkyria Enzigiri.
Perez tried to get involved but Bayley dodged to stack both heels in the faces’ corner so she could hit her Shoulder Thrust, taunt then Back Elbow spot. Valkyria tagged in and did her version of it to send Perez out before she tagged Bayley back in but before they could Doulble-Team, Perez pulled Valkyria out of the ring and slammed her into the apron. Rodriguez and Bayley exhanged shots and it led to a brawl on the outside. Rodriguez would catch Valkyria’s Crossbody attempt and used a Fallaway Slam to toss her into Bayley.
Back inside, Rodriguez charged Bayley into the heel corner to tag in Perez who hit a Running European Uppercut before Rodriguez hit a Corner Splash. The Double-Team of the Perez Russian Legsweep and Rodriguez Big Boot combo got a near fall. After a commercial break, Bayley made the hot tag as Valkyria hit a Crossbody to Perez and cut off Rodriguez with an Enzigiri. Perez took Clotheslines then a flurry of strikes before Valkyria ducked some shots and hit the Dropkick through the ropes on Rodriguez. A Spinning Heel Kick got Valkyria a near fall. Valkyria would set up Perez for Nightwing and allowed Bayley to get a tag and climb up top, but Perez escaped and sent Valkyria into the corner to knock Bayley off balance before she dumped Valkyria out.
Perez hit a Frankenscreamer then tagged Rodriguez to hit a Gordbuster, which set up the Satomura Special by Perez to give Rodriguez a near fall. Bayley hit a Chinbuster but Rodriguez went and booted Valkyria off the apron. Perez was tagged as Rodriguez hit the Tully Suplex to set up the Double-Springboard Lionsault by Perez for a near fall. Bayley tried to rally but Rodriguez used a Low Bridge to pull Bayley out before she decked her with a Big Boot. Back inside, Perez hit a Headscissors Driver but Valkyria broke up the pin.
Valkyria tried to fire up Bayley and had to avoid charges from the heels while doing so. Valkyria yelled ‘This isn’t the Bayley I need!’ and slapped Bayley. That unlocked the unhindged side as Bayley laughed manically and then charged through the ropes with a Suicide Dive to both opponents. She drove Perez’s head into the announce table, drove Rodriguez into the ring post then sent Rodriguez over the timekeeper’s barricade with a Clothesline. Perez took a Running Knee Strike and was sent back in to take a Top Rope Elbow Drop. The Rose Plant followed to get the victory with it being implied she won it like a one-woman army in ‘Role Model’ mode. Despite being slapped, she didn’t go after Valkyria after the match and they raised hands.
MAXXINE DUPRI was interviewed and gushed about how she won (by count out) her match against Becky Lynch. Dupri annnounced that she would face Lynch next week for the Women’s IC title.
Women’s World Champion and the Women’s Crown Jewel Champion STEPHANIE VAQUER was interviewed and bragged about being the first woman to win four different Championships in a year (including the NXT ones). Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez interrupted and Perez claimed she should be the champion because of a win over Iyo Sky months ago. Vaquer dared Perez to stop crying and do something about it and Perez claimed she would on ‘her time’.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Two great matches. Sane and Ripley always deliver, and the post-match beating gives the Warriors some heat back to continue the fued, perhaps all the way to War Games since that’s in line next month. The same can be said for Bayley’s ‘awakening’ from the Valkyria slap and we’ll see if anything else comes from that. Lastly, Vaquer’s nothing interview and being challenged by The Judgement Day would have been far more impactful if, you know, Vaquer wasn’t being challenged by a losing team. Unless Perez and company get a beatdown on Vaquer or steal a win, it’s not going to be seen as a serious challenge.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
