Last Friday as part of Friday Night SmackDown the Superstars of WWE took part in the opening rounds of the WWE 2020 Draft with Asuka, Sasha Banks, Naomi, Bianca Belair, Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke all being assigned on either RAW or SmackDown.
Last night WWE concluded the 2020 draft on Monday Night RAW with Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Natalya, Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott, Lana, Lacey Evans, Nikki Cross, Carmella and Peyton Royce finding their footing on both the blue and red brands.
In Round One of the Draft it was revealed that the current SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley will indeed remain on Friday Night SmackDown as she prepares to defend her championship against former BFF Sasha Banks this coming Friday. Speaking of the four horsewomen it was also revealed that upon her return that Charlotte Flair will remain with Monday Night RAW in the concluding draft of round one.
With no female superstars drafted in round two we head straight into round three with Reckoning aka Mia Yim being drafted to Monday Night RAW alongside her fellow retribution members Mustafa Ali, T-Bar, Mace, Slapjack and Reckoning. Unfortunately it seems that Retaliation aka Mercedes Martinez has indeed parted ways with the group after recent rumours suggested that Martinez was set to return to NXT. Round three also saw the drafting of former SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss to Monday Night RAW, after weeks of aligning herself with the Fiend Bray Wyatt over on Friday Night SmackDown.
In Round 4 it was revealed that the sassy southern Belle Lacey Evans will return to Monday Night RAW alongside Nikki Cross who was also drafted to the red brand as part of round 5.
In the closing round of the onscreen WWE 2020 draft it was revealed that both Peyton Royce and Carmella will stay on their respective shows with Carmella continuing to reside on Friday Night SmackDown and Royce remaining on Monday Night RAW.
Whilst RAW may have been over and done with the drafts just keep on coming through as it was revealed on WWE RAW Talk that former friends Lana and Natalya will have no choice but to part ways as Natalya heads to Friday Night SmackDown whilst Lana remains on Monday Night RAW as she heads into her RAW Women’s Championship opportunity against the RAW Women’s Champion Asuka. WWE RAW Talk also revealed that the Riott Squad will once again return to Friday Night SmackDown with both Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan headed to the blue brand after reuniting stronger than ever.
In an interesting move it was later confirmed as part of WWE’s YouTube Channel that Zelina Vega, Billie Kay and Tamina had all decided to sign with Friday Night SmackDown after all becoming free agents after not being drafted.
This continues to leave Mickie James as the only free agent not aligned with a brand as of yet and we can only hope she bounces back stronger than ever regardless of where she ends up.
