Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Extreme Rules is in the history books and Charlotte Flair scored a decisive win over Alexa Bliss to retain the red brand’s gold. Before going the extra mile and ripping apart Lily the doll (amid rumours Bliss is taking time off with a possible gimmick refresh coming after that). So what’s next for Flair ahead of the WWE Draft upcoming this week, along with who will step up to take on the new Women’s Tag Team Champions of Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley? Let’s get into it, and find out…
SARAH SCHREIBER tried to interview SHAYNA BASZLER about her turn on Nia Jax, but Baszler just walked away.
Raw Women’s Championship – Open Challenge
Raw Women’s Champion CHARLOTTE FLAIR defeated DOUDROP
Earlier in the show Doudrop convinced SONYA DEVILLE to grant her the open challenge spot after Deville made Doudrop do a dance. No, seriously.
Flair got a Headlock but was knocked down by a charge, with a second following after Doudrop showed up Flair a bit with some rolling and rope running. Flair got a kick and tried for a Body Slam but it was blocked, before Flair slipped out the back from a Doudrop Slam attempt. Soon a Doudrop double Chop taking the champion down. Doudrop hit the Back Senton but EVA MARIE came out to distract, allowing Flair to hit a cheap shot that set up Natural Selection to steal a win. The match was Divas-era short. Flair then just Clotheslined Marie anyway for stealing her spotlight.
Eva Marie would stay in the ring and mouthed off. This brought out Shayna Baszler as she choked out Marie with a Clutch. An apparent face turn happening as Baszler continued the attack by putting Marie’s arm onto the ring steps for the Arm Stomp.
New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions NIKKI A.S.H. and RHEA RIPLEY were interviewed but weren’t completely on the same page as Ripley didn’t like the sounds of being decked out in all blue like ASH was.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A bad night for the women with such a short match. Doudrop is being done no favours with this Eva Marie feud dragging on, and such a short match isn’t a win for anyone. If there is a silver lining out of tonight, it’s that a face Shayna could be interesting considering we’ve only seen her as a heel since her NXT days. But with the next week being the WWE Draft, perhaps we’ll see new teams formed and a new challenger drafted to Raw for Flair to take on.
That’s your lot for this week. Be sure to stop by in seven days time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
