Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! SummerSlam is just days away, and we’ll see Bianca Belair defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch. Will we see any final twists and turns before the Summer’s biggest Premium Live Event? Let’s get into it, and find out…
RHEA RIPLEY made her return to the WWE as she played a physical role in setting up an ambush on The Mysterios by the rest of The Judgement Day backstage. Later in the show she’d even get in a cheap shot boot onto Rey Mysterio’s hurt arm.
BIANCA BELAIR went to the ring, but BECKY LYNCH came out to interrupt before Belair could say a word. Lynch made Belair look like a clown with an easy cheap shot after Belair dropped her ‘EST’ catchphrases. Leading to a brawl for a couple minutes before referees broke it up.
Women’s Singles Match
ALEXA BLISS defeated DOUDROP w/h NIKKI A.S.H.
SARAH SCHREIBER interviewed Bliss before the match. Bliss mocked Doudrop and Ash for being friends but not getting any benefits from it. Before Bliss made a rather Goddess-like statement vowing she was coming after whoever left SummerSlam as Raw Women’s Champion. Doudrop meanwhile didn’t get a full television entrance.
Ash distracted Bliss by stealing Lily, taking the KO Punch for her trouble but it still allowed Doudrop to hit the Running Crossbody for a two count. Bliss would then take a corner Splash before having her arm worked over. A Suplex got Doudrop a two count. After a rest hold Cobra Clutch, Doudrop hit a Short-Arm Clothesline for a near fall. Bliss would avoid another corner Splash but her attempt at a Headscissors was countered before Doudrop landed a Headbutt. Bliss managed to hit a Drop Toe Hold of sorts to turn the tide, allowing her to hit a series of strikes including the KO Punch between Knee Strikes. All leading to a Low Dropkick for a two count.
Bliss tried for the Goddess DDT but got charged into the corner, before Bliss was herself able to evade another charge as Doudrop went shoulder first into the ring post. The referee checked on Doudrop so didn’t see Ash pushing Bliss from off the ropes to send her down. Doudrop went for the Viper Driver but Bliss countered into a Tornado DDT and got the victory.
MARYSE appeared to aid in the feud between her husband The Miz and social media star Logan Paul.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Going with a brawl over a promo battle was a smart move considering Belair’s lack of verbal skills, and it nicely set the stage. One has to think the feud ends for good at Summerslam, especially with Alexa Bliss making it clear she’s next in line. Bliss getting another win here certainly puts her in a prime position. Of course, Rhea Ripley’s return might have something to say about that but the WWE will likely hope we all forget that she was supposed to have a title match a couple months back.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the post-SummerSlam edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
