Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLUTION! Crown Jewel has come and gone, with Becky Lynch retaining her title which, after controversy, is now the Raw Women’s Championship. Who will step up and challenge her next? And what’s in store for the new Queen of the WWE, after Zelina Vega captured the Queen’s Crown? Let’s get into it, and find out…
SONYA DEVILLE handled duties as a WWE official.
Queen ZELINA VEGA had her in-ring coronation, cutting the expected cocky win her win as being branded as Queen Zelina. She was also being specifically being promoted as the only ‘Official Queen’ of the WWE. The rest of the women’s roster was watching from backstage and looking unimpressed as Vega spoke, breaking in and out of an old English Queen accent and her actual voice.
Women’s Singles Match
QUEEN ZELINA defeated DOUDROP
Doudrop grabbed Zelina’s sceptre to pull her in for a Clothesline, then hitting a Polish Hammer before tossing the Queen across the ring a couple times before following up with a Bodyslam then the Back Senton. Zelina escaped out from a Driver attempt, and soon after lured Doudrop in to send her into the middle turnbuckle. Zelina followed with stomps and chokes, then hit a rather slow motion MX from off the ropes for a near fall.
Vega then untied a top turnbuckle, getting an apparent ‘official warning’ from the ref for it (since when has that been a thing?). With the referee distracted trying to retire the pad, Zelina used the sceptre as a weapon to nail Doudrop in the heads and get a cheap win.
BECKY LYNCH the Raw Women’s Champion came to the ring and bragged about having the chance to beat up new opponents. But BIANCA BELAIR came out and had unfinished business, complaining that she had never been beaten. Eventually, it led to a brawl involving Belair using a Kendo Stick. Lynch fled the scene, and accepted the title challenge but just not for tonight.
Women’s Singles Match
CARMELLA defeated LIV MORGAN
Carmella had a bragging promo earlier in the show about how her mask protected her ‘money maker’. Carmella started off with a cheap shot then striking in the corner. Following with a Bronco Buster shot for a near fall. Moments later Carmella countered a wild charge of a Back Elbow with two feet up, getting another near fall. Morgan came back with a trio of kicks then a Corner Knee Strike but going for a second Carmella got a foot up. Moments later Morgan hung Carmella up on the ropes for a Springboard Stomp for a near fall.
Carmella rolled to the floor but ended up getting slammed into the announce table as Morgan mocked Corey Craves on his recent engagement (to Carmella). Back in the ring Carmella avoided ObLIVion turning it into a Backslide attempt only for Morgan to counter that with a Small Package for a near fall. Carmella then came back with an impressive Float-Over X-Factor for the clean win.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A rather boring, but unsurprising, title feud set up for another clash between Lynch and Belair. Hopefully the next clash will be the end of the rivalry so they can both move on. If Liv Morgan hoped for a fresh start herself on Raw, taking another loss and clean no less to Carmella will likely kill any hopes of being in a title conversation for a while. And it’s perhaps no surprise that the WWE made a point to call Zelina the only official Queen in WWE considering the rumours of Charlotte Flair being in the dog house over recent events.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
