It has been announced that the NWA World Women’s Championship will once again be defended in AEW.
AEW Owner Tony Khan confirmed the news on Twitter that AEW wrestler SERENA DEEB will defend the title against former Champion, and recently announced free agent, ALLYSIN KAY. The match will air on the pre-show to the Full Gear Pay Per View event, The Buy-In.
Kay was the first NWA Women’s Champion of the new era of the NWA, defeating current NXT Superstar Santana Garrett in a decision match to crown the new Champion. Kay would then lose the title to Thunder Rosa, who lost the gold to current title holder Deeb. Deeb has already defended the title on AEW Dynamite against Leyla Hirsch. The news of Kay being the challenger is curious as Kay had only recently announced that she was a free agent, so no longer under NWA contract while Rosa according to NWA’s owner still is.
