Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLUTION! Survivor Series is done and dusted, and now we can focus on actual storylines like Liv Morgan being the number one contender to Becky Lynch and the Raw Women’s Championship. Along with Queen Zelina and Carmella gunning for the Tag Team Championships, and the growing issues between Bianca Belair and Doudrop. So what’s next for the women’s division? Let’s get into it, and find out…
SONYA DEVILLE handled duties as a WWE Official. This is also included segments on the show involving female Superstars that were promo for a Netflix movie. Less said the better.
BECKY LYNCH went to the ring and cut a promo, bragging about her win at Survivor Series over Charlotte Flair. Claiming the fans didn’t care if either woman walked away from the ring, and ranted about the fans wanting to see someone new. Ripping on the fans for them doing silly chants and the wave during the Women’s Survivor Series Match. Vowing that she had a death grip on the title and wouldn’t be letting it go.
Women’s Singles Match
BIANCA BELAIR defeated TAMINA w/h NATALYA
Before the match Belair cut a promo bragging about overcoming the odds at Survivor Series but laid it on a little thick that she did so because the fans were cheering for her. Then mocking Doudrop for having issues with her in what ultimately was a weak promo. For some reason Natalya, who is a Smackdown Superstar, was here just because ‘Mister McMahon wanted all Superstars here’. Sure.
Bianca did her flips and taunts, then landing a couple of Single Leg Dropkicks. A Suplex set up the Handspring Moonsault for a near fall. Moments later, Tamina slipped out from under Belair when she went for the 10 Count Punches to yank Belair down off the ropes. Hitting a glancing blow Superkick before the Samoan Drop got Tamina a two count. Stomps and a Running Hip Attack got another nearfall. After Belair was worked over with a rest hold, she avoided a Shoulder Thrust before vaulting to the apron, kicking Tamina’s head into the ring post. A vault back in and she scooped Tamina up to hit the KOD for the win.
After the match Natalya attacked Belair from behind but was kicked out of the ring. DOUDROP decked Belair s she was too busy glaring at Natalya, and Doudrop flattened her with the Low Running Crossbody. A new alliance perhaps being formed as Doudrop left arm in arm with Natalya and Tamina.
SARAH SCHREIBER handled interview duties. This included interviewing CARMELLA and QUEEN ZELINA as the two mocked Nikki A.S.H. for being just a sidekick and not being a threat.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match
CARMELLA & QUEEN ZELINA defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions NIKKI A.S.H. & RHEA RIPLEY to become the new champions.
Carmella stalled to have her hideous mask put on but Ripley went to the floor to boot her in the gut. In the ring she decked Carmella with the Short-Arm Clotheslibnes into the Ripcord Headbutt. The Snapmarfe and Low Dropkick followed but Ripley just stood and watched Carmella crawl and tag out to Queen Zelina. Ripley then toyed with Zelina, easily overpowering her and tossing her before she blocked a Headscissors counter attempt but took too long, as Zelina pulled off a sharp DDT for a near fall.
Ripley backed herself into her team’s corner as Zelina applied a Choke, allowing Ash to tag in and charge across to knock Carmella off the apron, then running back for a Flip Neckbreaker to a seated Zelina. Getting a Neckbreaker Drop then a corner Splash to set up the 10 Count Punches then a Bulldog out of the corner. Ash hit the Spinning Neckbreaker but Carmella broke the pin up, before driving Ash’s face into the canvas. Ripley chased Carmella around the ring, but managed to slide in to break up Zelina trying to steal the win.
Carmella hit a Superkick to send Ripley to the floor, then going out herself hit a low one to send Ripley into the ringpost (that seems to be a fave spot in women’s matches these days). With the numbers against her, Ash took a Superkick through the ropes that set up a Code Red for a clean win and NEW Tag Team Champions.
DANA BROOKE also emerged as an unlikely champion on the night. Taking advantage of freshly crowned 24/7 Champion Cedic Alexander being distracted by the title chasing mob. Hitting a Blockbuster off the top rope to Alexander and a stacked pin getting Brooke her first title win in her career. Leaving the title mob stunned and confused, not knowing what to do as Brooke posed on the ropes. Brooke would be interviewed later as she proudly said she lived her life every day as a Champion.
LIV MORGAN was interviewed but Becky Lynch interrupted to run Morgan down for her career short comings. Until Morgan snapped and slapped Lynch.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Good for Dana Brooke. She’s worked hard for a long time and has been passed over many times. We’ll see if this title run leads to anything or if it’s just a distraction. It’s also crazy that Zelina Vega has gone from fired from WWE to rehired, Queen of the Ring and now Champion in a space of a few months in this year. The title change not surprising considering how thick the WWE has laid it on with Ash being the weak link. But with Royal Rumble not too far away, is getting Ripley out of a tag team a sign she could be returning to singles action?
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
