The most highly anticipated Wrestling Event of the year (Sorry WrestleMania) is almost upon us in a night where anything and everything can happen…The 2021 Royal Rumble!
With WrestleMania just in sight and Championship Gold and reputations on the line who will leave this year’s Royal Rumble with their bodies, dignity and titles intact? It’s time for our Royal Rumble 2021 PPV Predictions:
Women’s Tag Team Championships: Asuka & Charlotte Flair Vs Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler
Elle: First things first, poor Asuka! For someone with so much to offer how on earth has she ended up in this position once again right before WrestleMania! I can’t help but feel like turning Asuka face while she was doing some of her best work really threw her off track and I don’t think she has ever quite recovered since the Kabuki Warriors split. Had the opponents been a different team over Nia and Shayna I could have easily seen a title change but seeing as though Nia and Shayna’s ‘friendship’ is on the rocks a title change doesn’t seem to be on the cards. Prediction: Asuka & Charlotte Flair
Adam (TheInsanityInc): Asuka’s been caught up in this, never mind being the tag champ and a singles champ, along with the recent matches with Alexa Bliss. It’s been a rough time for The Empress. That being said, this match will likely come down to the future plans for both Charlotte Flair and Asuka. Will Lacey Evans distract to cost the titles? Will Flair and Asuka’s partnership implode? Or on the same token, could Jax and Baszler end up costing one another the titles they once held? A lot of potential here but to me the WWE seems happy to make Flair happy with the tag title. Perhaps Flair will end up losing the gold to her new rival Evans soon enough? Prediction: Asuka & Charlotte Flair
Smackdown Women’s Championship: Carmella Vs Sasha Banks
Elle: You know what considering I wasn’t too keen on the start of Carmella’s return run ( think it was mainly down to that constant red attire) I’m actually quite enjoying this bank and forth between Mella and Banks. Sasha has brought out the best in Carmella and you could argue that a win for Carmella tonight would be the biggest victory of her career so far. Do I think Mella will actually win this close to Mania? I highly doubt it but that’s not to say she won’t make Sasha claw her way to a victory. Really intrigued to check out this match but I don’t see Sasha dropping the belt tonight. Prediction: Sasha Banks
Adam: I’ve been enjoying this feud between the two, and I was plesantly surprised they continued it even after Carmella’s prior loss. While I think a Carmella title win might be an exciting change of pace as we head towards WrestleMania, The Boss has been on a roll and she might be the the woman to beat , let alone the one with the most star power to face, at the Grandest Stage of them all. Prediction: Sasha Banks
Women’s Royal Rumble Match
Elle: I have to say this year feels like a pretty tough Rumble to call! Over the last few years there have been dead cert front runners who have gone on to win, yet this year seems like open season for almost anyone. I have to say I can’t quite see Belair picking up the win like so many of the WWE universe are predicting but after last year’s performance I whole heartedly expect her to reach the closing moments of the match. Why not give the win to one of the many huge stars from NXT like Rhea Ripley, Raquel Gonzalez or maybe even Io Shirai. Seeing as Mania is going to be different again this year give the unexpected a shot and make this Rumble memorable! Prediction: Rhea Ripley
Adam: Oh boy. How can you call this one? Will the WWE go expected and just have Charlotte Flair or Bayley win? Surprise us with a new star like Bianca Belair or a heel like Shayna Baszler winning? Or really throw a curveball and call up a NXT talent like Rhea Ripley for a monster push right off the bat? It’s really too tough to say, but perhaps the WWE will surprise us even more than we first thought. After all, it has been a while since The Man has come around. But going only off the current main active roster, I’ll take a wild swing and say that with the current champions the top babyfaces need a strong heel to face. So why not use a tried and tested fighter for the spot? Prediction: Shayna Baszler
