A blockbuster talent signing has been made over the past day, as the WWE has secured the former CMLL Luchadora and NJPW talent Stephanie Vaquer.
The signing of Vaquer had been rumoured by countless newsites over the past 24 hours but has been confirmed by NXT’s head Shawn Michaels in a post on X welcoming her to the WWE.
It was spurred by the sudden announcement from CMLL that Vaquer has left the roster of both the Lucha Libre promotion and from NJPW’s female roster. Stripping her of the CMLL Women’s singles and tag team titles that she held.
Vaquer opened many eyes with a show-stealing match at the AEW crossover Forbidden Door event that featured Stardom, NJPW and CMLL. On that show, she lost the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship to Mercedes Mone but in a well-praised performance. However, the WWE has instead swooped to sign her and add the Chilean wrestler to the loaded roster in NXT and the Performance Center.
We can’t wait to see what Vaquer brings to sports entertainment and who she’ll go up against in her new WWE career!
