Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Although with world events and lockdown it’s not felt like it, this is WrestleMania week with just days to go before the two-day events for this year’s fanless WrestleMania. Will the likes of Flair, Ripley, Lynch and Baszler get the advantage days before big title matches? Let’s get into it and find out.
BECKY LYNCH introduced a replay match of her winning last year’s WrestleMania main event to become Becky 2 Belts. After the match aired, Lynch cut a strong promo referencing Baszler being in Ronda Rousey’s shadow for so long. SHAYNA BASZLER herself would attack to get revenge for last week, locking in the Kirifuda Clutch before driving Lynch into the announce table, swinging Powerbomb style.
ZELINA VEGA introduced her clients Angel Garza and NXT star Austin Theory who was replacing the injured Andrade. Vega would be ringside as her men lost in a six-man tag.
The show confirmed the news that The Kabuki Warriors would defend the Women’s Tag Team Championships against Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross at WrestleMania.
Women’s Singles Match
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion ASUKA defeated KAYDEN CARTER
Asuka made quick work of the NXT Superstar despite Carter getting in a couple near falls early. A German Suplex, a Roundhouse Kick to the head, then the Asuka Lock won the match. Asuka celebrated by grabbing an announcers headset to rant in her native tongue.
‘Earlier Today’ footage showed CHARLOTTE FLAIR sneak attacking RHEA RIPLEY in the parking lot with a Big Boot to send Ripley into a roller door. Flair mocked Ripley, telling ‘Rookie’ that she’ll see her at Mania. “Yeah you will…” was Ripley’s response when she got up.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The sneak attacks did their job for easy and simple heat that worked well for the Heels. Yes it was short and sweet but the WWE has done their best to make segments that could happen in the first place with travel issues and everything else. It worked well. It’s now up to the women to deliver and produce excellent matches in the most unusual of circumstances at the WrestleMania nights.
That’s your lot for this week! Next time we’ll have all the fall out from the WrestleMania nights with the always anticipated, but perhaps even moreso now, Raw After Mania. Will we see new faces arrive on the scene? Who will walk in holding some gold? Stop by in seven days time and we’ll cover it all with the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
