Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! SummerSlam is in the books, and it saw Shayna Baszler win the ‘MMA Rules’ match over Ronda Rousey. While the Women’s Money in the Bank contract was cashed in as Iyo Sky captured Smackdown’s WWE Women’s Championship to remove any threat of a cash-in on Raw. So what’s next for the women of Raw with the anticipated Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus rematch planned to happen next week? Let’s get into it, and find out…
RHEA RIPLEY accompanied The Judgement Day as they confronted Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes at the start of Raw. Leading to a failed sneak attack that set up a Six-Man Tag Team main event.
MAXXINE DUPRI accompanied Chad Gable, but only out to the entrance way, for his victorious Fatal Four-Way Match.
In an ‘earlier today’ video RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ was told by a Trainer that she wasn’t cleared yet to compete as CANDICE LERAE and INDI HARTWELL looked on concerned. Rodriguez was far from amused.
Maxxine Dupri was taunted backstage by Ludwig Kaiser, after Chad Gable’s victory earlier set up a future title match against Gunther. Durpi slapped Kaiser after he insulted Otis, and the segment set up Otis stepping in and challenging for a match.
BECKY LYNCH had an in-ring promo saying that the end was in sight, ready to put an end to the issues with Trish Stratus. ZOEY STARK came out alone to interrupt and mocked Lynch for losing to herself and to Stratus. Lynch tried to turn Stark’s mind, praising her skills but saying she was ‘too stupid’ to realise she was being used. Stark claimed she wasn’t playing second fiddle to anyone and mocked Lynch a little more. But as she boasted about herself, SHAYNA BASZLER came out and showed off the ‘wounds’ from the MMA Rules Match at Summerslam with a black eye and protective covering over an elbow and a wrist.
Baszler bragged she drove Ronda Rousey out of WWE, which got the fans chanting ‘Thank You Shayna’. Baszler squared up to Stark, taking exception to Stark calling herself the baddest and Stark threatened back that she’d send Baszler packing just like Rousey. Lynch pounced on this, calling out Adam Pearce who made the match official.

SHAYNA BASZLER defeated ZOEY STARK
Becky Lynch stayed at ringside, drinking lemonade for an apparent reference to Lynch’s social media remarks this past week about being left off of SummerSlam. Something that new Raw commentator Wade Barrett remarked had ‘no bitterness about it’ in a sly remark. Baszler controlled from the start with a waistlock and takedowns. Stark tried going after the arm but had to use a flip counter to avoid a Clothesline. Only to be decked with a Shoulder knockdown. Moments later Baszler countered a Leapfrog with an Ankle Lock but not long after a simple Back Elbow counter stunned Baszler as her hurt eye felt the string. Especially as Stark when after it with a rub of the Forearm then some strikes.
Stark roughed Baszler up with a claw at the eye then doing a rope burn pull to the eye. A Snapemare leading to just a count of one then rest hold. Baszler fought back with kicks then a Back Suplex. A Clothesline sent Stark over the top to the floor but the action soon went back into the ring as Lynch refilled her lemonade. Stark used a pull down over the top rope to target Baszler’s arm then hit her Springboard Dropkick. The match then went into in-picture as adverts played.
Baszler mounted a comeback with Clotheslines with the good arm, a corner Knee Strike then a Release German Suplex. A Low Knee Strike getting a near fall. A Superkick of sorts from Stark then got her a two count. Baszler took off the protective pad Baszler had on the arm and tried to hit an Arm Stopmp but Baszler got out of the way. Stark hit another Superkick and tried for Z-360 but Baszler escaped. Hitting the Shocking Baszler but only getting a near fall much to Lynch’s annoyance.
A springboard Leaf of Faith led to Stark landing into the arms of Baszler as she locked on The Clutch. Stark escaped by sending Basdzler through the ropes and then hitting a Plancha. Stark was distracted briefly by Lynch as they mouthed off, leading to getting trapped in the Clutch again but Stark escaped with an arm shot to the ropes. But again Stark was distracted, so Baszler caught her with a Knee Strike coming back into the ring. Baszler, eventually, hauling Stark up on the shoulders to hit the ‘World’s Baddest Slam’ (her version of Ronda Rousey’s often messy Piper’s Pit move) to get the win.
Rhea Ripley had to act as a peacemaker backstage to try and smooth out issues between Finn Balor and Damien Priest.
Maxxine Dupri accompanied Otis as he faced Ludwig Kaiser. Dupri served as a distraction at one point to unintentionally aide Otis. The numbers game led to Otis losing much to Dupri’s outrage.
JACKIE REDMOND handled interview duties.
VALHALLA and The Viking Raiders made an open challenge, that was answered by The New Day. Valhalla managed to distract Woods at one point to give her team an advantage but The New Day still emerged the winners.
An interview backstage with Becky Lynch didn’t even get started as Shayna Baszler stormed in, objecting to Lynch being involved in her match earlier and warning Lynch that soon she’d be coming after her. Lynch responded that she wasn’t hard to find.
The WWE confirmed the news that Women’s Tag Team Champion Sonya Deville is out indefinitely with an ACL injury. Saying that the WWE will ‘have to figure out’ who the next tag champs will be.
As Rhea Ripley accompanied The Judgement Day for their main event match, Raquel Rodriguez jumped her from behind. Leading to a pull apart brawl that officials, referees and even Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae tried to pull apart. But when Ripley nailed Hartwell and LeRae to get some space to go after Rodriguez, that just led to Lerae and Hartwell taking shots at Ripley before the brawl was broken up.
During the match itself, Ripley got a cheap shot in to smack Rollins but her men still lost the match.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The match between Baszler and Stark was good when it was good, but bad at other parts and at points Baszler appeared exhausted and it didn’t seem to be just selling the Summerslam match either. The interaction between Lynch and Baszler was also interesting. Could Baszler end up costing Lynch another match against Stratus when it happens next week? Elsewhere we got some new build between Ripley and Rodriguez so surely a title clash between them is coming at the next PLE. Deville’s injury is unfortunate as is any injury, but it’s very telling that the WWE quickly moved on from the announcement so clearly there’s no rush from the WWE to crown new champions.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
