Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Last week saw Chelsea Green and Piper Niven retain the tag team titles but with a match between Double KC and the previous challengers Tegan Nox and Natalya, which team will step up and get closer to a title shot? And what’s next for the likes of Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley? Let’s get into it, and find out…
ZOEY STARK spoke with SHAYNA BASZLER backstage ahead of Baszler’s match with Nia Jax. Baszler got interviewed and said her goal was to remind Jax that she ‘took her out’ years ago and would do the same tonight, Iimb by limb.
JACKIE REDMOND handled interview duties.
BECKY LYNCH was interviewed but before a question could be asked NIA JAX showed up and challenged Lynch about her remarks last week about ‘fights on the horizon’. Jax correctly guessed that she was on Lynch’s list, with Lynch saying she was number one but claimed she and the fans had forgotten about Jax but she owned Jax a receipt. Jax was unfazed and claimed she was all Lynch’s once she dealt with Baszler.
Singles Match
NIA JAX defeated SHAYNA BASZLER
Baszler hit kicks before Jax used a lazy toss, leading to a corner Splash. Jax would miss a second, to set up a corner Knee Strike by Baszler. Baszler would lock on a Suzuki-style Armbar on the ropes, but Jax powered out to hit a Sit-out Powerbomb. Baszler oversold it by bailing out of the ring, and Jax followed her out to rough Baszler up with shots to the announce desk and apron. Jax attempted a ringpost Samoan Drop but Baszler escaped to shove Jax into the post. Baszler would hit a kick to Jax’s arm from the apron and tried for the Arm Stomp but Jax countered and swept the leg.
Jax hit a Legdrop to the back of Baszler’s head while she was over the bottom rope. After a commercial break, Jax controlled with a rest hold. Baszler escaped and hit some strikes, but got shut down with a rough ST-No that dumped Baszler on the side of her head. Baszler was sent into the ring post to set up Jax hitting a Hip Attack on the apron to send Baszler’s head into the post. It got Jax a near fall. Baszler again hit some strikes that Jax barely sold, before Jax hit a Side Slam.
Baszler tried to rally with kicks, just to be hit with a Samoan Drop while the commentators laid it on thick about Jax’s dominance since her return. Jax missed a Hip Attack to the corner. Baszler used a Roll-up grip to send Jax into the corner, leading to the low Knee Strike by Baszler for a near fall. Baszler hit a round of kicks finished with a Buzzsaw but, of course, Jax no sold to hit a Splash to Baszler against the ropes. A Senton got Jax a near fall.
Jax went for the Annihilator but Baszler got up and used a German Suplex off the ropes but because Jax just dropped back rather than jumped, Jax’s body crashed down onto Baszler’s head in the move. Baszler locked on the Kirifuda Clutch for a long while, before Jax eventually powered up a dropped back to break the hold. The Annihilator followed for the win for Jax.
After the match, Becky Lynch stormed down to the ring but Jax cowardly backed away and left the ring rather than face her old rival.
Backstage CANDICE LERAE and INDI HARTWELL gave DIY a pep talk before Imperium interrupted.
In another backstage segment, CHELSEA GREEN and PIPER NIVEN mocked NATALYA and TEGAN NOX while the latter got ready for their match later. Making fun of the two trying to make the team work and accusing Natalya of treating like Nox like a meal ticket, which made Nox fake throwing a strike at Green.
IVY NILE was part of a backstage skit with The Creed Brothers and The New Day before MAXXINE DUPRI and The Alpha Academy showed up. Nile said she wouldn’t back down against Rhea Ripley. Before Dupri used Tozawa for some lift squats.
Tag Team Match
KAYDEN CARTER & KATANA CHANCE defeated NATALYA & TEGAN NOX
Green and Niven were doing guest commentary for the match. Carter and Nox started the match, with Nox doing flip work to escape a Wristlock before she brought Carter to the corner so Natalya could tag in. Only for Carter to soon bring Natalya to the other side of the ring so Chance could get a tag and get a count of one from a Roll-up. Natalya, flexing for no reason, muscled up Chance into a Military Press before hitting a Powerslam for a near fall.
After Chance escaped a Sharpshooter attempt, things got a little messy after Carter got a blind tag. Natalya was out of position for the school yard trip up spot by Chance. Then again for double team of Carter flipping Chance into a Moonsault that saw Natalya take it knees to the chest for a near fall. After another tag, Chance used herself as a human barrier through the ropes to keep Natalya pinned in the corner for Carter to hit a Dropkick. Chance was able to reach back and tag out as Natalya tried for the Atomic Drop. Leading to a Carter Facebuster of sorts.
Natalya was able to tag out, and hit a kick to Carter’s head before she left. Nox went into House on Fire mode with Clotheslines then strikes but Carter hit a counter kick from off the canvas to stun Nox. Nox didn’t see Chance make a blind tag so hit the high Cannonball on Carter, followed by a rough landing Molly-Go-Round. Matters not helped with a messy Basement Complete Shot that dumped Nox on her head. Natalya broke up the pin then got the tag, and missed the Discus Clothesline before Chance hit the Codebreaker.
Double KC went for a Double Team Superplex on Natalya, but she escaped and hit a Double Powerbomb that almost made her opponents knock heads. Carter kicked out at two. Carter was able to escape the rope-bounce Atomic Drop, turning it into a roll through and then hitting a low kick. Chance was tagged in, and the ‘Cake Stand’ of a Handspring off Carter’s shoulders into a dropped Moonsault got the win while Carter prevented Nox breaking things up with a kick.
After the match, Green unwisely got on the apron just for Carter to send Chance in with a Dropkick to knock Green down.
Ivy Nile accompanied The Creed Brothers as they defeated The Judgement Day.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A standard Nia Jax match. I can’t say I’m looking forward to the Lynch match when it happens but if it ends the push that Jax has been on then that’s the only good thing. Jax matches does no one any favours. Meanwhile, a disappointing clash between Nox and Natalya against Double KC. Missed spots and sloppy moves but ultimately the right team won. The experiment with Nox and Natalya hasn’t worked and it’s high time that Carter and Chance, one of the few true teams in WWE, finally got a run and a chance to shine. Whether that translates into a title opportunity of course is another story.
That’s your lot for this week. Be sure to stop by in seven days for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
