Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! We are heading towards WrestleMania still, and now that Bianca Belair has picked Sasha Banks to face at the biggest show of the year the Raw title picture is wide open. But will we get the expected feud between Asuka and Charlotte Flair or something more interesting? And what’s next for the Women’s Tag Team Title scene? Let’s get into it, and find out…
Women’s Singles Match
Women’s Tag Team Champion NIA JAX w/h Women’s Tag Team Champion SHAYNA BASZLER defeated NAOMI w/h LANA
Jax quickly shut down Naomi with a body check, then tossed her about. Naomi used her speed and hit her Splits Jawbreaker but was soon shut down again by short strikes. Jax locked in a Bearhug before Naomi eventually escaped, only to be grabbed for a Headbutt. Jax then hit the Samoan Drop. taunted Lana then hitting her Powerbomb for a squash win in a short match. After the match the heels looked like they might go after Lana but just walked off.
KAYLA BRAXTON interviewed Randy Orton about his still ongoing issues with ALEXA BLISS, but Bliss interrupted with more satanic madness.
CHARLOTTE FLAIR came to the ring for a promo, brushing aside the feud with Lacey Evans and vowing to face Asuka at WrestleMania. This brought out Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler as Baszler took exception to the claim. Flair tried to jump start on Baszler but the numbers took over, leading to Flair taking a Leg Drop from Jaz.
Women’s Singles Match
CHARLOTTE FLAIR defeated Women’s Tag Team Champion SHAYNA BASZLER w/h Women’s Tag Team Champion NIA JAX
The match was joined in progress as Baszler controlled with a Gutwrench Suplex then joint manipulation. Lana and Naomi were seen watching backstage. Flair powered out with a Flapjack but Baszler came back with strikes before Flair countered another Gutwrench with a Backdrop. Flair fired off chops then hit the overhead Exploder Suplex. Flair hit an over the shoulder Legbreaker then targetted the knee. Jax tried to distract but got knocked down, and Baszler couldn’t taker advantage as a Roll-up attempt was blocked. Flair tried for the Figure Four but was kicked off and sent out of the ring.
On the outside Jax tried to charge butFalir dodged, sending Jax into the ring steps. Going back in Flair was caught with a knee before Baszler applied the Clutch. Flair managed to slip out, kicking Baszler in the barely targetted leg to set up Natural Selection and get the win in another short match.
RECKONING was ringside with Mustafa Ali as Retribution lost to Riddle and Lucha House Party, and then as Ali made a statement to the group with a win over Riddle afterwards.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Two very short matches that were Divas-era length. Perhaps I’m reading too much into the loss by Naomi but perhaps the WWE have changed their minds about having Lana and Naomi as a challenging team now. Certainly Jax didn’t need yet another win in her record books. Meanwhile, the WWE has boringly reverted to type and gone with Flair as a challenger. Same old, same old from WWE. Guess we’ll have to wait until after WrestleMania for some real spark in the Raw title division.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven day’s time and we’ll have all the goings on with the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
