Seeing as the Royal Rumble is just a few short hours away and in the spirit of Royal Rumble fun this year we thought we would do our own Royal Rumble wish picks on top of our monthly PPV Predictions.
Year after year the Royal Rumble is a PPV filled with fear, dread, exhilaration and excitement all bundled together as we all root for our favourite superstars to get the opportunity of a lifetime. It could be one of your favourite current day superstars or if we’re extra lucky it could be a returning legend or a superstar returning from injury, this is the Royal Rumble and as WWE likes to say “Anything is possible”.
Like in recent years earlier today we posted our Royal Rumble predictions with both I and Adam making predictions using our head as opposed to our heart. In this post however we’re going to shake things up a little and make picks based on who we would love to win the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble. Seeing as we’re spicing things up let’s start off with Adam and his Royal Rumble pick:
Adam: For me it seems obvious that with this being a ‘new era’ of WWE creative, some big change is needed at the top of the women’s division. There’s no better way to do that then by allowing Rhea Ripley to get her own break-away moment from merely being the muscle of the Judgement Day to finally getting a legit title shot and feud to make up for a past WrestleMania disappointment.
Elle: Like Adam I’m a huge fan of Rhea Ripley and I would love nothing more to see the Judgement Day badass pick up a win, especially after the year Rhea has had. Like Adam I really think WWE needs to spice things up this year to truly prove that this is a new era of WWE and what better way than to pick something truly unlike WWE on the first official step on the road to WrestleMania.
There are so many legends that I would love to see return and have their WrestleMania moment against either Charlotte Flair or Bianca Belair, but this year specifically I would love none other than Hardcore Country herself Mickie James to get the win. Over the last few months Mickie James has been on a ‘last rodeo’ retirement run over on IMPACT Wrestling with Mickie stating she will hang up her boots once she takes a loss.
Mickie of course recently recaptured the Knockout’s World Championship, the very title she walked into last year’s Royal Rumble with, and I dare say I’m not the only one who would love to see that again tonight. I’ve absolutely adored Mickie and her time in IMPACT but for me I will selfishly always think of WWE when it comes to Mickie James and in a dream scenario that’s where I would like to see her retirement match take place.
It’s no secret that Mickie’s last run in WWE didn’t go quite to plan and there was still a lot of unfinished business, so I would love nothing more than to see Mickie finally get the respect she deserves just like she did in her original NXT run against Asuka. Not only that but both Mickie and Charlotte Flair have said in countless interviews that they would love to face off and what better stage than WrestleMania with both women putting it all on the line. If Mickie was to somehow win at the Rumble you could ramp up not only the retirement angle but the support of IMPACT and it’s superstars as everyone including the WWE Universe rally behind James. I’m not exactly sure what that would mean for the Knockout’s Championship if Mickie were to lose at Mania and she did hang up her boots but I would still love IMPACT and the Knockout’s Championship get the respect it rightfully deserves.
Sure I may have rambled on a little longer than any of you may have liked but I get super passionate when it comes to Legends not getting the respect they deserve and The Royal Rumble always gives me a tiny bit of hope of WWE doing that.
Get in touch and let us know who you would love to see the Royal Rumble in a dream scenario as well as who you think will win. Until Next timeā¦. HAPPY ROYAL RUMBLE DAY!
