Welcome to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Last week saw new champions crowned in the unlikely new 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke, while Carmella and Queen Zelina crowned the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. All that as Liv Morgan made a statement of her own against future title rival Becky Lynch. So what’s next for the women of the red brand? Let’s get into it, and find out…
A contract signing was held between Raw Women’s Champion BECKY LYNCH and LIV MORGAN, with SONYA DEVILLE overseeing matters. Lynch mocked Morgan at having held back last week but Morgan countered by showing Lynch in an emotional state after Survivor Series. Morgan fired back, saying that Lynch’s big money contract was the reason why ‘her friends were gone’ and that Lynch had now become everything she once despised. Deville prevented a brawl and Lynch demanded that Morgan lead a team for a 10-woman tag team match later on the show.
MARYSE made a return to WWE, accompanying a similarly returning The Miz to confront Edge.
SARAH SCHREIBER handled interview duties.
24/7 Champion DANA BROOKE was seen conversing with former champion Reggie with no apparent hard feelings.
10-Woman Tag Team Match
24/7 Champion DANA BROOKE, BIANCA BELAIR, LIV MORGAN, NIKKI A.S.H. & RHEA RIPLEY defeated Raw Women’s Champion BECKY LYNCH, Women’s Tag Team Champions CARMELLA & QUEEN ZELINA, DOUDROP & TAMINA
Lynch started against Morgan as Morgan took control with strikes and a corner Knee Strike but Lynch came back with corner stomps. Carmella was tagged in but used a Matrix dodge to avoid a Clothesline and getting a Roll-up for an one count. When Ripley was tagged in soon after Carmella fled with a scream to tag in Zelina. An attempt for a Sunset Flip failed as Zelina tagged back out again. Multiple tags allowed the Heels to come in with Tamina legal and with a distraction Tamina decked her from behind.
Tamina hit a Headbutt then applied a Chinlock. Soon after Ripley avoided a Samoan Drop and hit a wild Clothesline before tagging in Ash and then the Faces tagged all in to try and repeat the spot from before, but the Heels pulled Tamina down from a KOD attempt. After a commercial break Doudrop was controlling Ash with a Bodyslam and an Elbow Drop then a Cobra Clutch. Ash took the beating as Lynch tagged in to hit Legdrops but after missing one Lynch tagged out as Carmella broke up a tag attempt. Carmella took a Jaw Breaker and Ash tagged out, but either a good selling job or Carmella landed hard off a Clothesline from Ripley. Carmella was given time as Ripley took out the tag champs with a Double Dropkick and decked Lynch and Doudrop. Carmella avoiding the Low Dropkick after a Snapmare.
All the ladies then got spots in as Brooke broke up the Code of Silence then hit Carmella with a Flip Neckbreaker, before Zelina hit a Knee Strike. Ash landed the Swinging Neckbreaker on Zelina before Tamina hit a Samoan Drop. Belair hit the Glam Slam before taking a Headbutt then the Low Running Crossbody from Doudrop. Morgan lured Doudrop in and used a Low Bridge trick to send her to the floor but Lynch snuck up and hit a Reverse DDT. Ripley sent Lynch out and tried for Riptide on Carmella but she escaped, hitting a Low Superkick to a kneeling Ripley for a near fall.
After another commercial break, Brooke was taking Headbutts from Tamina but escaped from the Heel corner, tagging in Morgan who hit her trio of strikes to Tamina. Tamina swatted down a Running Crossbody attempt but took the Side Codebreaker but Lynch broke up the pin. Brooke sent Lynch out, setting her up for a Crossbody off the apron by Ash before Doudrop hit a Clothesline. A kick from Brooke off the apron saved Doudrop from further harm. Moments after both tag champs shoved Brooke off from the turnbuckle to wipe out the rest of the babyfaces and Doudrop on the outside.
Morgan hit an Enzigiri on Carmella then caught Zelina off the ropes with a STO. Tamina hit a Superkick but Morgan kicked out at two. Morgan came back with her awkward push off move to send Taminba to the ropes, setting up for ObLIVion for the win. Lynch instantly attacked Morgan after the bell. Doudrop went after Belair in the ring and got an impressive Spinebuster for her troubles. Lynch tried to hit the Man Handle Slam but Morgan countered and then hit ObLIVion. And after the match despite the 24/7 Rules being back in effect no one went after Brooke and her title.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A loaded tag team match that, aside from a couple scrappy moments, did it’s job to continue the feuds on Raw. No complaints here, but just putting the title match on Raw next week makes me think that we’re gonna get a screwy finish and see the bout run back at the Dat 1 PPV event. We’ll wait and see on that front.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
