Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Backlash is on the horizon where we will see Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defend against Damage CTRL’s Iyo Sky. This happening amongst the apparent drama between the members of Bayley’s stable, let alone ahead of the WWE Draft that could change the shape of the WWE. What’s going to happen this week? Let’s get into it, and find out…
CATHY KELLEY interviewed BIANCA BELAIR backstage, confirming the announcement that the Belair and Iyo Sky title match would take place at Backlash. Belair was soon interupted by DAMAGE CTRL as Bayley mocked Belair for needing to ‘stay ready’ but to count down the days until she loses the title. The cracks were showing in Damage CTRL when Sky cut her leader off, yelling in her native tongue which Kai said meant Sky wanted to face Belair tonight. However, Bayley then cut in, much to Sky’s clear annoyance, claiming that all three of Damage CTRL wanted to compete against Belair and whoever she found to team up with.
TRISH STRATUS had a short interview, mocking Becky Lynch for not being at Raw for the past few weeks. Claiming Lynch couldn’t handle the pressure and should be thanking Stratus for taking her out of her misery.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match
Raw Women’s Champion BIANCA BELAIR & Women’s Tag Team Champions LIV MORGAN & RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ defeated DAMAGE CTRL (BAYLEY, DAKOTA KAI & IYO SKY)
Belair and Sky started off, with Belair flipping out of a Roll-up attempt then blocking a Crucifix to toss Sky down. Sky showed off some flip evasion of her own, only to take the Single Leg Dropkick before Belair kipped up. Kai got the tag, only to take the Delayed Suplex. Rodriguez was tagged after Kai was sent into the faces’ corner, just for Morgan to be tagged as Rodriguez sent Morgan in for an assisted Back Elbow. Bayley ran in just to tossed into Kai, before Morgan performed a Headscissors on Rodriguez to aid her partner for momentum with a Shoulder Thrust to both heels. Before Morgan got onto Rodriguez’s shoulders, then hauled down for a Senton onto both Bayley and Kai, getting a two count on Kai.
Kai hit the Scoprion Kick, only for Morgan to nail the Side Codebreaker, making Kai bail to the floor. Bayley distracted the ref with an intentional self vault over the ropes to fall into the ring, allowing Sky to hit Morgan with a Dropkick as she leaned through the ropes. After a commercial break, Kai and Morgan were legal. Kai hitting the Running Big Boot to the corner, and quick tags between Damage CTRL allowed Bayley to hit a Running Knee Strike to set up Sky’s Running Meteora for a near fall.
Morgan fought up to get out of a Crossface, but was hauled back by the hair before she could tag out, with Sky using a Shotei to knock Rodriguez off the apron. A tag made to Kai but Morgan managed to toss Sky out of the ring and drop Kai with a Clothesline. Sky smartly hauled Belair off the apron, preventing a tag and sending Belair into the ring steps. But Morgan managed to hit a Backstabber on Kai, leading to Rodriguez and Bayley being tagged in.
Rodriguez went House on Fire with Clotheslines and the Rewind one, leading to the Fallaway Slam and the Vader Bomb Senton but Kai broke up the pin attempt. Moments later Morgan was tossed with an Awesome Bomb over the ropes by Rodriguez to wipe out Kai and Bayley on the floor. Sky hit a Springboard Missle Dropkick to take down Rodriguez but Belair was legal, and scooped up Sky for a KOD attempt. Sky escaped but moments later Bayley, who was legal for her side, was easily scooped up and dropped with a KOD to give Belair the win. Much to Sky’s yelling outrage.
MAXXINE DUPRI once again bickered with Chad Gable over Otis. Dupri inviting herself out to walk with Otis as he accompanied Gable for his match against Mustafa Ali, and she was clearly more interested in Otis than the match.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A fun six-woman tag match, that along with the earlier interview continues to set up the end of Damage CTRL, and at least some hype for the Backlash title match. Not too much on the Lynch and Stratus feud but with Lynch apparently out with a foot injury there isn’t too much that can be done. We’ll just have to see what the state of the Raw roster is after the Draft that kicks of on Smackdown this Friday and continues on Raw next week.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
