Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Clash at the Castle is in the history books and it saw The Unholy Union of Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn become home-country heroes when they took advantage of the Triple Threat Match rules to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Now the next big event is Money in the Bank, so who will qualify for that all-important match? Let’s get into it, and find out…
MAXXINE DUPRI, hobbling along as she sold her ‘hurt’ ankle, with The Alpha Academy accompanied Chad Gable as he faced Braun Strowman. When Gable lost, he berated this group and yanked away Durpi’s crutch before he ordered her out. Otis finally snapped and shoved Gable down before the rest of the Academy walked away from Gable.
Triple Threat Match – Women’s Money in the Back Qualifying Match
IYO SKY w/h DAKOTA KAI & KAIRI SANE defeated KIANA JAMES & ZELINA VEGA
Kai and Sane didn’t stay at ringside for the match. Sky decked Vega from behind to start the match, and tried to go after James after she took a strike from her. Vega hauled down Sky by the hair and moment later hit a Knee Strike. There was a miscommunication as Vega went for a pin, but James hit an Elbow Drop that rather impressively hit Sky while Vega pinned her. James got a Roll-up on Vega for a two count. Vega took some stomps from James before Vega used a Mickie James Headscissors counter to another James out of the corner.
Sky hit a Dropkick to send Vega out then caught James on the apron with a Hotshot to knock her down to the floor. That set up Sky to hit the Moonsault to the floor from the middle rope, but Vega then hit her with a Meteora from off the ring apron. After a commercial break, Sky and Vega hit a Double Team Superplex on James. Both women tried to pin James but the referee refused to count to prevent a draw. Vega hit Sky with strikes, only to take a Shotei. After an exchange of counters, Sky hit Vega with a Double Underhook Backbreaker.
James bullrushed Sky into one corner, then did a flip into a charging Shoulder Thrust to Vega in the other before she nailed Vega with a stacked Powerbomb. Sky broke up the pin with a Sunset Flip to get a nearfall on James. Vega hit James with a Snap Armdrag then hit a Flash Back Elbow to Sky, before Vega used a Roll-up toss to position James for a Low Kick. Vega showed shades of Malaki Black by using her foot to raise up Sky before she nailed a Superkick.
James would hoist up Vega, and sent her onto Sky just for Vega to snap off a Headscissors. Vega used a Wheelbarrow to send James into the canvas, but Sky hit her Springboard Missile Dropkick on Vega. Sky went up for the Moonsault but Vega in a cool spot hit a 619 at the corner to sweep out Sky’s leg. Vega hit a Code Red on Sky but James broke up the pin. A Chinbuster followed before Vega went out to the apron to try for a move on James.
LIV MORGAN, the Women’s World Champion, came out dressed in Dominik Mysterio’s ring jacket, came out and distracted Vega following last week’s events when Vega attacked Morgan. James hit a low Side Codebreaker on Vega to send her through the ropes, only for Sky to hit a Running Meteora to James against the cables. Sky then hit the Over the Moonsault to pin James and win the match.
JACKIE REDMOND interviewed the new Women’s Tag Team Champions of ALBA FYRE and ISLA DAWN. Fyre put over that they won the titles in front of friends and family, before Daw said that the hard work started now. Enter SHAYNA BASZLER and ZOEY STARK as Baszler pointed out they her team had handily beaten the Union last week and even referenced Jade Cargill’s ‘tapout’ during the Clash match. Stark warned them that they’d be coming for the titles but had MITB focus for the moment.
During a match between Carlito and Dragon Lee, Liv Morgan came out to try and seduce Dominik Mysterio, but got attacked from behind by Zelina Vega. The chaos allowed Carlito to steal the win.
Backstage The Alpha Academy told Chad Gable that they were done and walked out on him.
Tag Team Match
KATANA CHANCE & KAYDEN CARTER defeated DAMAGE CTRL (DAKOTA KAI & KAIRI SANE)
Double KC didn’t get a TV entrance. Damage CTRL jumped the faces to kickstart the match, forcing Chance to be legal before they stomped away at her. Kai became legal and tried for a slam but Chance escaped and hit her leg trip slide before she knocked Sane off the apron. Chance hit a low Facebuster then a Running Dropkick when Kai got up. Carter got the tag before Chance used a Baseball Slide for her leg trip and then brought Kai out to suspend her from the apron so Carter could hit a Splash from the apron and drive Kai to the floor.
Carter tried to pin Kai in the ring but was too close to the ropes as Sane pulled Carter off the pin from the outside. Kai sent Carter through the ropes and hit her Springboard Stomp before Sane was tagged and hit the InSane Elbow but Chance broke up the pin. Kai decked Chance with a Big Boot before she got a tag from Sane. Meanwhile, LYRA VALKYRIA appeared at ringside to check over Chance and then served as a distraction so Carter could hit a DDT on Sane. That left Kai open for a superkick, a tag to Chance and then The Afterparty double team to get the win over Kai.
Backstage Iyo Sky berated Damage CTRL and warned them that Damage CTRL had to change or else she would change it for them all.
In a different segment, Dominik Mysterio found Liv Morgan still in his vest and told him he could have his vest back if he personally took the vest off of her. Things were interrupted by Damien Priest who sent Mysterio away and warned Morgan to stay away but she wasn’t fazed.
SCARLETT was with Karrion Kross as he challenged The New Day to a one-on-one match.
NIKKI CROSS, under the new persona of Sister Abigail/Abby the Witch, debuted as part of the new Wyatt Sicks faction with Uncle Howdy in an eerie segment to close the show.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
An excellent Triple Threat match. A slight surprise that James took the pin while she’s still so new to Raw, but with the brawl between Vega and Morgan perhaps there will be a Women’s World Championship match for MITB. The Tag Team Match was fine and they’re building something with Damage CTRL and Iyo Sky’s frustration. We’ll see if that leads to anything or not, especially following MITB itself since it would be quite a surprise if Sky won the match again, back-to-back.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
