Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! WrestleMania is on the horizon with Becky Lynch set to defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. However with Lynch suffering a throat injury last week, will Lynch even be able to make it to the Grandest Stage of them all? And what’s next in the tag team division with new duo of Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley now involved in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Match? Let’s get into it and find out…
Women’s Singles Match
LIV MORGAN w/h RHEA RIPLEY defeated Women’s Tag Team Champion QUEEN ZELINA w/h CARMELLA
A cut-in promo had Queen Zelina warning Carmella for being distracted as of late. Telling her partner to shape up “or else”. Zelina took control early with a Regal Neckbreaker floated into a Stranglehold-style Muta Lock then into the proper hold. A Jumping Knee Strike to the corner by Zelina set up the Running Knee Strike but Morgan kicked out at two. Morgan came back with a Sunset Flip, the kick out giving her momentum for a Rolling Cradle for one pin attempt, then back around the other director for another. Morgan then hitting a Jumping Knee Strike, then a Shotgun Dropkick to send Zelina back.
Morgan went for her Corner Stomp spot but Carmella got on the apron to distract, allowing Zelina to hit Morgan with a Powerbomb out of the corner. Ripley chased Carmella, only for Carmella to cowardly jump into the arms and lap of her man Corey Graves at commentary. This ended up distracting Zelina for a moment, and soon after Morgan ducked a charge to hit ObLIVion off the ropes and get another win for her team over the tag champs. Zelina looking furious at her tag partner having cost her another match.
Women’s Singles Match
BIANCA BELAIR defeated DOUDROP w/h NIKKI A.S.H.
SARAH SCHREIBER interviewed Belair before the match as Belair defended her use of her braid, and tried for a cheap pop by listening for the crowd but they didn’t react too quick, or loud, to it. A cut-in promo claimed the sudden team of Ash and Doudrop was based on them knowing Belair’s hair is a weapon.
After some counter work, Belair was knocked down just to kip right back up and hit a Single Leg Dropkick. After taunts and rope work Doudrop held the ropes to avoid a Dropkick but her follow up Senton attempt missed. Belair hit the Handspring moonsault, but couldn’t get Doudrop up for the KOD as Doudrop hit a Headbutt to send Belair to the floor. On the outside, both women traded shoves as Doudrop hit the apron and Belair the barricade. Doudrop missing a Cannonball to the barricade as the show went to commercial.
Doudrop hit the Viper Driver for a near fall. A high Cannonball to the corner missed before Belair rallied a comeback with strikes then a Dropkick, setting up Shoulder Thrusts in the corner. Later, Belair hit the Spinebuster then muscled up Doudrop at the corner to walk her out and hit KOD to once again beat Doudrop. Ash didn’t even interfere once in the match.
Suddenly BECKY LYNCH appeared, hauling Belair down with a trip then out by the hair. Slamming Belair into the ringsteps, the announce table then a folding chair. getting some ‘payback’ for the last couple of weeks by using Belair’s hair to trap the head in the chair, then pulling the braid to sent Belair’s head and the chair into the ringpost to leave Belair clutching her throat. “Next week – the hair, bitch!” Lynch warned before she walked away as Belair was left clutching her throat.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The WWE is making it more and more obvious that not only are Carmella and Zelina going to lose the tag titles, but they’re splitting the team up as well. All over a YouTube show that isn’t doing good numbers by WWE standards? Oh boy. It was refreshing to see Liv finally get a win on her own this year though. Elsewhere Lynch got some much-needed heat back attacking Beliar aggressively. We’ll see what comes from the hair angle next week as I’d assumed they would be doing some gimmick of stipulation where use of the braid is banned. But we shall see what, if anything, the WWE has cooked up.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
