Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Extreme Rules is in the history books and it saw Bianca Belair retain the Raw Women’s Championship over Bayley in a Ladder Match. But with Damage CTRL still the Women’s Tag Team Champions, what will Bayley’s crew do next to get the edge back over the rest of the women’s division? Let’s get into it, and find out…
RHEA RIPLEY, wearing a mocking ‘tribute’ armband for Beth Phoenix after the attack on Phoenix at Extreme Rules, played her role as part of The Judement Day. Accompanying Dominik Mysterio as they distracted his father Rey during his match against Chad Gable. When it didn’t lead to the loss for Rey, it got him the usual Judgemt Day beatdown. Ripley holding Rey in place as Dominik hit his own father with his signature 619 move. The group then having a bragging promo in the ring about their acts at Extreme Rule before the party was ruined by the reuniting The OC.
DAMAGE CTRL had a backstage sitdown interview, but BAYLEY wasn’t in a talking mood when asked if her loss at Extreme Rules ruined her group’s plans. DAKOTA KAI took exception to the remark, before saying that until Bayley brought her in that she was ‘at rock bottom’ and vowed to hurt anyone who came after her girls. Kai showing a flash of her inhinged side when IYO SKY said something to her in Japanese and laughing afterwards. Sky spoke more in Japanese before Bayley claimed that the words meant that Bayley would kick Candice LeRae’s ass. The group then storming off the set without really answering any questions.
Women’s Singles Match
CANDICE LERAE defeated BAYLEY
Bayley came out alone and to her solo theme. Bayley took control early with strikes and corner stomps, getting just a count of one off a shoulder knockdown. LeRae came back with Arm Drags, a Drop Toe Hold and a Low Dropkick. A Perfect-Mare leading to a Jackknife Pin for a two count for LeRae. Moments later LeRae hit a Missile Dropkick as Bayley sold the Extreme Rles match by clutching her ribs.
The match went to in-picture as adverts played, while LeRae hit a Baseball Slide to Bayley as she was on the outside. Bayley came back as she targetted Lerae’s leg, swinging it into the ringpost before later choking LeRae on the ropes then pulling the leg onto the cables. A Suplex getting Bayley a near fall before she stomped at the leg. LeRae using an Enzigiri to fight back before clubbing away with strikes to the corner when the match went back to full live action.
LeRae hitting her Step-up Back Senton followed with a Low Dropkick for a two count. LeRae went to the middle ropes only for Bayley to shove her, leaving the targetted leg hung up at the corner open to take a boot. Bayley hitting a Knee-DT right after. Bayley went for the Rose Plant but LeRae countered it into a Cradle pinhold for the upset victory!
As LeRae went up the ramp, she got jumped from behind by Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky. Bringing her back to the ring as Sky held up LeRae to take a kick from kai before Sky hit a Double Underhook Backbreaker. Raw Women’s Champion BIANCA BELAIR ran out to try and even the odds a bit but got a knee in the head from Bayley as she tried coming in. Bayley holding her to take Drive-By kicks from both sides from Kai and Sky. Bayley intentionally adjusting her knee pad before delivering a Running Knee to the side of LeRae’s head. Kai and Sky holding Belair so Bayley delivered and Elbow Drop off the middle rope, somewhat sending Belair down into her own title belt. The Heels posing over Belair and LeRae to show the issues with them and the Raw Women’s Champion are far from over.
MARYSE returned to Raw, hosting an in-ring birthday celebration for her husband The Miz. The as expected ruining of the party happened thanks to Miz’s stalker Dexter Lumis. Maryse getting sent into the cake to ruin her hair and face before storming off in a huff after being left alone in the ring.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
An upset loss for Bayley but instantly getting the heat back with a beatdown. Making it more and more certain that the Women’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series will be Damage CTRL (possibly with someone else on their side?) against Team Belair. It’s been slow burn with the feud and if they didn’t give Bayley the title at Extreme Rules, with Damage CTRL get the win at Survivor Series to make up for it? Or is the group being just built to take the fall again at another big show?
That’s your lot for this week. Be sure to stop by in seven days time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
