Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! Bad Blood is fast approaching and the issues between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley are far from done. Meanwhile, The Unholy Union have a rematch for the Women’s Tag Team Championship against the women who beat them in Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Will the Union regain the gold or will it me another steamroll for Belair and Cargill? Let’s get into it, and find out…
Eight-Person Street Fight
Wyatt Sicks (NIKKI CROSS, Dexter Lumis, Erick Rowen & Joe Gacy) defeated American Made (IVY NILE, Chad Gable & The Creed Brothers)
The match started off as Cross (who took off her mask before the match and had pale facepaint on) rushed the ring to tackle Nile down and hit punches while the men brawled. On the floor Cross drove Nile into the apron and then hit pressumable a Gordbuster on the floor but the cameras cut away from the move. Cross would put a trashcan on Nile and then hammer into the can with a Kendo Stick. Nile, still in the can, was then tossed into the barricade before Cross dropkicked the can.
Later on, Cross would clear the announce table but when she climbed on it, Nile swept the leg to slam her back-first into it and then hit a Flapjack from the floor to drive Cross onto the table. Before Cross was tossed over the table. Later, Nile would use a fire extinguisher to blind Rowan to set up The Creed Brothers putting him through a table. After the men went at it for a length of time, Cross reemerged from under the ring and struck Nile with a Kendo Stick a few times before a Crossbody by Cross tackled them both over the announce table.
Later on, Nile would strike Gacy with a Kendo Stick while Gable applied an Ankle Lock. Only for Cross to pull Nile out and then rush the ring to hit a Release German Suplex on Gable! Cross hit a Dropkick to knock Nile off the apron, and then hit her Corkscrew Neckbreaker with Nile hung off the apron onto a chair pile on the floor! Later, Lumis would pin Gable to win the match.
It was confirmed that Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan will clash for the Women’s World Championship at the Bad Blood PLE in October.
After The Judgement Day put a beatdown on former member Damien Priest, RHEA RIPLEY tried to even the odds even while she limped out on a crutch. At first, Dominik Mysterio tried to distract but when LIV MORGAN tried to sneak attack Ripley it backfired when Ripley nailed a shot to the gut with the crutch. Mysterio grabbed the crutch and ended up taking a shot to the stomach then to the back from Ripley. That ended up distracting Ripley enough as Morgan clipped the bad knee with a Chop Block. The assault continued in the ring as Morgan levelled Ripley’s bad knee with shot from the crutch, and even nailed Priest in the back a few times when he tried to protect Ripley by covering her up.
JACKIE REDMOND handled interview duties.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match
Women’s Tag Team Champions BIANCA BELAIR & JADE CARGILL defeated The Unholy Union (ALBA FYRE & ISLA DAWN)
Belair and Frye started off with a Headlock by Belair before a shoulder check sent Fyre down. Belair did a flip then a taunt, before there was a somewhat awkward pause as Belair blocked a whip with a sort of bend-over grip. A Bodyslam soon followed before Cargill was tagged and the faces did a Double Team shoulder check. Dawn then took the same before the champs used a Double Team Clothesline to send Fyre over the top and to the floor.
Back in the ring Dawn got a tag and a brief distraction by Fyre allowed Dawn to club Cargill in the back. Cargill soon hit a Delayed Bodyslam to Dawn and then one to Frye before she hit a Jumping Back Elbow to Fyre in one corner. Cargill tried for one to Dawn but she moved and then drove Cargill into the Union’s corner. Cargill powered out from the corner but didn’t see Fyre tag in, so after she dumped Dawn with a front Atomic Drop she got clipped with a Chop Block. That set up a Head Kick from Dawn to give Fyre a near fall.
Cargill easily kicked Fyre away and then Dawn after she tagged herself in, but then sold her leg (that was good enough to kick away) like death before she tagged in Belair. House on Fire mode was in effect with shoulder checks then the Single Leg Dropkick. Fyre took a Delayed Suplex before Belair hit a Charging Shoulder Thrust to Dawn in a corner. She hit nine mount punches to Dawn before she backflipped out, ducked a Double Team Clothesline and then rather messily hit a Crossbody from the middle rope to both heels.
The Handspring Moonsault got Belair a nearfall on Dawn. Belair went for KOD but was too close to the Union’s corner so Frye tagged in. Belair got clubbed in the back but before Dawn could hit her Backstabber for the Union double team Belair shoved her off into the corner to knock Fyre off balance. Belair tried for a Suplerplex from that corner but it just allowed Dawn to grab the leg and then tag herself in off of Fyre. A Double Team Powerbomb from the corner got Dawn a nearfall.
Frye took a tag and the Union tried for a Double Team Suplex bu Cargill came in to pull down Belair and then shoved the Union into one another. Dawn managed to roll through a Jaded attempt and Fyre hit Cargill with a Superkick. Moments later, Dawn was tagged in and the Union hit their Gory Special/Flatliner combo but Cargill broke up the pin. Fyre took a tag but moments later Belair ran Dawn along the apron into the ring post before she got hit with a Superkick that sent her back to the champs’ corner so Cargill tagged in. Cargill hit a High Knee of sorts before the champs performed their Double Team DDT into a push-off German Suplex as Cargill pinned Fyre to retain.
ZELINA VEGA and the LWO were interviewed before The Judgement Day interrupted.
Liv Morgan was in the corner of The Judgement Day as Dominik Mysterio faced Dragon Lee. Morgan took advantage of the referee being distracted by a mass brawl on the floor to clip Lee’s leg to set up a 619 by Mysterio who then stole the win with a Frog Splash.
Backstage KAIRI SANE (patched up from the cut last week) and IYO SKY warned Belair and Cargill not to be used to being tag champs.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match
LYRA VALKYRIA, NATALYA & ZELINA VEGA defeated Pure Fusion Collective (SHAYNA BASZLER, SONYA DEVILLE & ZOEY STARK)
Deville mocked her opponents about having a mystery partner before the match. To the surprise of no one, Natalya was the surprise partner for this show in Canada. Stark and Vega started off and Vega hit a Headscissors before Baszler got a blind tag and used the Low Bridge on the middle rope to make Vega tumble out. Baszler hit a kick from the apron and then tagged out to Stark who hit a Plancha to the floor.
After in-picture adverts, Vega and Stark were legal as Vega took a couple of Snap Suplexes. Baszler got tagged but on the floor Vega awkwardly counted an Electric Chair hold to sort of slip down the front and Baszler had to send herself into the ring apron. Stark got tagged but couldn’t stop the hot tag to Natalya who nailed wild punches before she knocked Deville off the apron. More punches followed then the rope-bounce Atomic Drop toss, the step-over run and the Basement Dropkick.
Natalya blocked a Superkick attempt and tried for The Sharpshooter but Stark made it to the ropes and used them for a Hot Shot. Valkyria hit the Dropkick through the ropes to Baszler before Vega hit a Meteora from the apron to Deville. Back inside, Stark hit a Sunset Flip but only got two, and after a quick exchange of pins Natalya rolled back and turned it into The Sharpshooter. While Valkyria locked a Single Leg Crab on Baszler and Vega a Boston Crab to Deville, so no one could save Stark as she tapped out.
Backstage, Natalya along with Vega and Valkyria shared a moment with Bret Hart.
MAXXINE DUPRI was briefly seen for a disguised promo for the WWE’s legacy replica titles.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
A glorified squash for Belair and Cargill that was predictably chunky in even the brief moments Belair had to sell. The Union went from a tag reign where they barely featured on TV to dropping the belts and then the rematch soon after. Meanwhile, PFC suffered another loss at the expense of a hometown pop and win for Natalya who returned after months being off of TV. I think the PFC experiment is already over unless there’s a major bounce back. Lastly, the WWE seems to be going in hard for a injury angle with Ripley and Morgan. That will easily protect Ripley from a loss but will it overshadow what could be a great match again between the two at Bad Blood?
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days’ time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
