The WWE Draft is almost here in two nights that promise to shake up the entire WWE landscape with stars from RAW, SmackDown and NXT all eligible as part of the shake up.
Later this evening the first batch of superstars will be drafted as part of Friday Night SmackDown with a selection of Female Superstars up for grabs. So in celebration of all things Blue brand we thought we would draft our ideal picks for SmackDown and who we would like to see drafted to Friday Nights.
Elle: Kayden Carter & Katana Chance – It’s no secret that the Main Roster is in a dire need of some real Women’s Tag Teams and arguably there is none better or fresher in WWE right now than Kayden & Katana. Over the years SmackDown has been synonymous with putting faith and build into smaller talent like the likes of Rey Mysterio and Katana & Kayden fit that mould perfectly with a mix of Charisma, athleticism and just some epic tag team combos. Bring the former NXT Women’s tag team champions to the Main roster and finally give the belts constant screen time with true tag team wrestling.
Adam: Rhea Ripley – Not as obvious as you might think even though she’s the Smackdown Women’s Champion. Having been allowed to stay a Raw Superstar since winning the gold, but with the announcement that in the men’s division, there’s going to be brand-specific world titles, it makes sense to put Ripley on the brand where she’s champion. And it wouldn’t hurt to put a quiet break on her being a part of The Judgement Day so she can shine on her own.
Elle: Asuka – When Asuka first returned the Wrestling community was a buzz with Asuka’s new look and theme which seemed to tease a new era for the Empress of Tomorrow. Whilst Asuka has still been awesome, she hasn’t had the opportunity to go full badass due to a loss at WrestleMania followed by a post Mania disappearance. What better way to return with a bang than by being drafted to a new show and start from the ground up kicking ass week after week.
Adam: Bayley – With the obvious breakup of Damage CTRL coming, and with Bayley having already done her feuds with Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair, a fresh start on Smackdown might work wonders.
Elle: Candice LeRae – Candice is one of the many released superstars who returned to WWE after those dreadful budget cuts, who just haven’t had the right moment to shine and show exactly why HHH has real faith in them. Giving Mrs Wrestling a new show like Asuka would give Candice the opportunity to start from the ground up and prove why she was a fan favourite prior to WWE and down in NXT alongside her husband and the rest of ‘The Way’ faction. If Rhea is to reside on SmackDown with her Championship I would love nothing more than to see Rhea and Candice duke it out in a feud.
Adam: Piper Niven – She’s gotten some flashes of a push on and off, but with the red brand dominated by Belair it’s hard to break out and shine. Moving to the blue side could be the route for her to finally get a fair shot at a title opportunity.
Elle: Zoey Stark – Zoey may not be to everybody’s taste but I reckon the former NXT Women’s Tag Team champion not only has one of the most badass women’s finishers but true potential to go all the way in WWE. WWE clearly have faith in Stark having the NXT star frequent live events and Main event so why not have Zoey finally make the jump and become part of the main roster.
Adam: Roxxane Perez – The Women’s division on both brands could do with fresh blood, and the former champion could be what Smackdown needs for a boost. Dare we fantasy book and say she could be a contender for becoming Miss Money in the Bank?
Elle: Alexa Bliss – In the original lead up to WrestleMania it looked as though Alexa Bliss was about to get her claws back into some really fun storylines and opportunities thanks to the ongoing arc with Uncle Howdy and the returning Bray Wyatt. Unfortunately and for whatever reason the angle came to an abrupt end and we haven’t seen Twisted Bliss ever since. If the intended version of Alexa can’t continue a brand change would allow Bliss to start over or better yet Bliss could return in full Twisted Bliss and shake up the blue brand.
Adam: Michin – Again, the former (or current depending on how the announce team feels) Mia Yim has suffered from being associated with The OC and a team with Candice LeRae that hasn’t worked out. A clean break and a different roster to compete on would do her the world of good.
